Simply put neighbors, change Nation to State, County or City. Happiness for any of us is a bit ambiguous in this day and age as we have such diverse interests and needs. But the interests of the Citizenry versus those Elected/ Appointed should never be in question- the Citizenry.
See where several of the mug wumps at the State Commerce Department have suddenly resigned and it may well be with good cause. Called take the money and run.
Than we have a $1,000,000., overpayment in lease payments for a building the State has not been in for about 32 months. No one seems to know what happened there except a few changes of addresses for the Landlord; paper checks picked up by State Agency Employees to hand deliver to the alleged landlord. And the final insult to the folks is there is no provision to pursue overpayments that appear to be questionable if not outright fraud? Is this another "take the money and run" scenario? And I quote the WVS Auditor's Office that yearly audits are done. Still took almost three years to dig out the problem(s)?
If one wants to get well off, just get appointed to work for any Government Entity in this State at or above a certain pay/ job level? Seems money tree is so close to the ground that it has a hard time falling to it?
Has been almost six years for Vienna Audits under Mr. Rapp and Crew, and the Auditors Office still can not understand that what they are walking in and smelling is not perfume?
Thought it was very interesting that the of the 146 Illegal's arrested in some Ohio Plants, most were from Guatemala. At least now the Government knows where some of them are hiding out. Wonder if and if not did they get/ not get the families of these people too?
Daily Blat made a big todo about a Personal Finance Website called WalletHub giving us here a very low mark in being eco friendly. Again we made the bottom five but not quite as well off as the Psychopath ranking from yesterday?
Now when the Website that finds us here in Vienna is one of the safest Cities in West Virginia to live in and I think it comes out each spring, the Blat is all over it. That site is a bit iffy as it is a little on the "use us to get your Summer/ Vacation trip taken care of site". Than it is okay to put out a bit of the old blarney to schedule some road trips for a dollar or two.
I am not sure that we are very eco friendly if the Truth be known. In its simplest form being eco anything starts with recycling and we here in good ol' Vienna don't seem into that?
The "Our Opinion" piece on the 22d, was really more a whimper than a bang. There are many reasons why West Virginia is not into the "eco" thing as some other places are. Abject Poverty and Drugs Addictions being close to the top.
And as you know, the Wood County Republicrats are all in to impeach Mr. Justice right along with anyone else they can get in their crosshairs. Theirs is about the issue with the Federal Funding (RISE), for the flood victims from a couple of years back and how few of them have gotten anything substantial if at all. This also includes the infamous China Energy deal; Mr. Justice not living in the Gov's Mansion in Charleston and as many more as they can find? Latest rumor is that other County groups are signing on to dump Mr. Justice?
If you want to really see the poo-poo hit the wall, wait and see if the Braskem- LyondellBasel merger gets finalized? That could be the end of the Cracker Plant below P'burg or better yet the necessary backing by the new Owners to go forward? Braskem is the third largest polypropylene player in the World. It is said to be building a $675 Million Dollar Petrochemical Project in the Houston Area. It is said to have almost 11.4 Billion in Market Value and as much in debt? LyondellBasel is said to be contemplating a $2 Billion dollar in the next year. It just okayed a $2.4 Billion Project also in the Houston area. It is said to have a market value of about $40 Billion Dollars and no mention of any large debt issues?
While I have to applaud the ongoing special session to establish rules for impeaching SC Justices, it would seem about a 155 years late and missing the County Circuit Courts? It is a sad commentary on the Corruption in each of the Branches of Government, no matter the level that we live with. 'nuff said'.
