The combing of the water lines between P'burg and Vienna begins to explain more on the new tank on ninth St. Would for sure explain need for more water in the area IF and when P'burg had a water emergency and had to call on us for support.
I have said a couple of times that P'burg and Vienna should just combine into one Water Department and get it over with. In theory savings from reductions of duplication in some upper staff positions and availability of equipment through coordination of projects. But will never happen for appearance sake.
See where Mr. Metz has filed for P'burg City Council. Is he one of the Department Heads to retire this year? Maybe if he wins? Watch the raises and it will soon be apparent who is likely to leave?
The folks in Ohio are starting to reap that which they sowed when they bought off on the Oil/ Gas Drilling Companies coming here. Think they may get a lot of the jobs; wrong, these companies are and will bring many of their own crews. Men/ Women who have worked for them for years; are well trained and trusted by the Company Owners. Logical and should have been seen coming. Sure as noted in the current hiring dispute, they will hire a few locals in at the low end jobs. Only good thing is those low end hires to get experience/ training and chance to move up either in that company or with another over time. Can be pretty sure will happen here also if not addressed IN WRITING as a required hiring number and maybe even by position? Will be a tough nut to crack to get such an agreement unless mandated Union Contracts.
See where Ms. Wilcox is running for re-election. I have been most impressed with her belief that the Laws are there for a reason and should be obeyed. Don't know if she has had her Attorney file with the higher Court after P'burg case dismissed?
Oil is back up to almost $34.00/ barrel; wonder when gas will start to climb again. Be a couple of months before we get into Summer Season plus have to change over to other blends?
Was pleasantly surprised to see where Ms. Clinton has/ is getting hammered now for so many really secret e-mails on her server. The comments on them identifying actual sources in other countries will for sure be a death sentence once it gets out to those Governments. One article noted the FBI is much closer to an indictment that is generally being noted. Plus her number one assistant in on the hook. Be interesting to see them go in and cuff her Monday night at the end of the caucus.
Talking on the new sledding track just opened; never did find out how the City was insulating itself from lawsuits if someone got hurt because of another person running into or over them? If the City is just picking it up under City liability it would seem is going to be expensive? Anyone hear anything on that?
And another four people filed for the two open City Council seats. Speaking with two of the City mug wumps last Thursday they asked how many had filed at that time. I said I thought only four then. Still eight for two seats is a little light. But still a much better turnout than was showing. It is a good thing for the City overall to have so many running.
For those of you watching the Iowa Caucus, here is what is supposed to be the last Poll before the action starts:
On Saturday evening, Bloomberg Politics and the Des Moines Register released the results of their final Iowa caucus poll, which is conducted by widely-respected pollster Ann Selzer and has been extremely accurate in recent years.
For the Republican race, the poll found Trump in first among likely caucus goers with 28 percent, Ted Cruz in second with 23 percent, and Marco Rubio in third with 15 percent. Ben Carson is in fourth with 10 percent, and no other candidate gets more than 5 percent support.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton is ahead with 45 percent among likely caucus goers, followed by Bernie Sanders with 42 percent. Martin O'Malley is very far back, with just 3 percent.
For those of you who like to bet on these things; go the Las Vegas bookies. They will probably have the truth right at their fingertips. Me, don't gamble on these types of things. 'nuff said
(Paid for by the Candidate- Lawrence Wilson for Mayor of Vienna).
