Below is an extract from the above story. If it holds true, and we are almost out of July so that number may well tell the real story, we might get a rounded off 3%?
THE MOTLEY FOOL
This Is Great News for Social Security's 2019 COLA

"Long story short, inflation has been trending up all year thanks to higher crude prices and rental inflation. That bodes well for a continuation of this pattern in July, August, and September, which are the three months that actually determine Social Security's COLA in the upcoming year. My best guess, assuming we have a moderate hurricane season and face modest refining disruption, is that COLA could come in at either 3.2% or 3.3% in 2019. That would represent a seven-year high".
Sunday, we finally finished off our Fourth of July recordings with the Boston Pops Fourth. It was not as good as past years and had a new Sponsor which might account for that? The Fireworks, all 20 minutes of them were spectacular.
I know, some will think I am a bit slow recording so many of those shows and playing them for an extended period of time? But I can at this point of my life honestly say, "One should never tire of seeing our Flag; enjoying our Nations' Birthday; and a lot of fireworks.
But as with some of the other shows, they had no what I would call "name acts". The one that saved the day if it was is that great entertainer " Rita Moreno". 86 years old and still stumpin' the stage. She is what is known in the Entertainment World as an EGOT. One of only 13 in the World of Entertainment it is said. That stands for E= Emmy; G= Grammy; O= Oscar and the T= Tony. She is a U.S.A. Entertainment Icon for sure.
Rest of the Acts and there were only three were not anyone I knew about? You may know one called the Indigo Girls. The Theme of the show seemed to be what I will call with no insult intended to anyone "Appalachian Genre".
I found it somewhat interesting but was lost in the players? My wife was not impressed sadly as she is much more modernistic and not a person to take on a new interest. Me, I try to learn something about anything I come across that I am unfamiliar with. The more one knows, the easier it is to understand others. And as I said, some of the music is what I think we could call "down home good"?
It has more than once come to me that some only read my blogs when it is all about Vienna. Okay, fine, I appreciate your interest. But as you have seen, I will post on other things outside of Vienna, Wood County and even West Virginia. People need to open their minds and absorb a bit of the real world too. If we live with a very, very narrow attention span, we will many times be only our own worst enemy. Ignorance can be corrected; stupidity, not so much.
That is why when people start telling things that are inherently incorrect or even out right lies, it hurts all of us in the end. I encourage each and everyone to read other places. It has been my hope that you read my blog; think about it; talk to your friends, neighbors, family and share not just what you agree with, but also what you don't. We always have the option to "agree to disagree". The important thing is the reading and thinking. Lotta folks reading over the past few days on different issues. Some of the amounts surprised me as I did not think they would get the attention I had hoped, but in fact did. Thank you for reading...………...
I read at least three times the Column by Ms. Myers on Sunday and as is sadly too often the case saddened that she could put out comments that were totally and absolutely not True about the Press today. Especially in what passes for the Media here in Wood County. I will comment some more on it in a day or so. Saw an anchor as I was browsing the TV the other day who also was espousing on how great the Media is today for what it does. It was enough combined with that Sunday Column to make one want to quit reading and watching.
Will post on the last City Council Meeting soon. I have looked at my notes several times and even looked at the so called Live Recording to insure what I heard and saw was what I thought I had heard and saw. Sadly, it was. 'nuff said'.
