Am becoming overwhelmed at the vitriol in some of the letters page. The left hates the right; the right hates the left and pretty much what is remaining are the Independents. A moderate on either side is not wanted, tolerated or stands a chance from either side. We have devolved into less than civil to an all the time colic in our unwillingness to listen to the other.
Instead of listening and learning an idea rightly or wrongly, it is instead the habit now to just sneak around and undermine if possible the other side? Closer to home is the questionable behavior of Mr. Reynolds in P'burg who can't be bothered to sit and at least politely listen to the Non Discrimination Ordinance group. It should be brought up to a vote and with a yes or no be settled or at least an attempt to settle? A No vote will not settle it and will instead set off the homophobic, biased, and so forth by the losing side. But at least a vote will have been taken and a position established in what is alleged to be the City position. His up and out refusal to be there calls into question why he was elected and to represent whom? It is a right of all of us to agree to disagree. I listen all the time to comments that are so biased and untrue that I can not believe someone would make such a position statement?
And as I have noted above, we are unable to work for the WHOLE City, County, State and the Country. But in one instance, my wife noted something about a local was that it was karma. Do wrong long enough and it comes back to Him as a fitting reward.
I guess, that it is a sign of a Man or Woman versus the children in adult bodies that shows more often than not in how some behave. Never learned to stand up and step out; just slither along bottom feeding on those not wary enough to stay out of their reach?
Found the "Our Opinion" column on volunteering a bit iffy in its conclusion on why the number of volunteers are diminishing. The older folks are volunteered out and dying off. That is the "Community" spirit that once was but is now going with each day and each obituary.
The number of younger folks in some cases and I speak of 40- 60 year olds is losing or has lost interest in many of the affairs that used to be put on. Not just the Broughton Foods Ice Cream Social, but also the immediate cancellation of the Falling Leaves item in Vienna. There are as noted by a very learned and loyal gentleman only so many to do how many?
Get down to the 20- 40 somethings and it possible one will find a group that is just not as into the volunteering this/ that as were their Grandparents and Parents. Many are still living in the same bedroom or a basement they grew up in as kids with an imagined future that is long gone. They have not successfully learned networking as what volunteering can be as much as helping to build a float or set up a display tent.
I consider my blog to be in many ways a "volunteer" effort on my part. It costs me time and effort to keep digging and putting out items that you are not going to see in any other alleged media source for Vienna. As I noted yesterday, the local media and most especially the Daily Blat might well qualify as the Public Relations Department for the City of Vienna? It has been this way for some decades and will continue until the bottom feeders finally lose out. I watched it for Mr. Nohe and was told it had been that way all through his administration and it continued into the current corrupt one, only worse. I have offered up some days the "blood, sweat and tears" put out by many before to try and help the folks against the dishonesty. And I suspect will continue for some to come.
We just had the kick off for the Vienna Kiwanis Club on the 26th and I have not seen anything to show a massive turnout by the folks to go forward. As I post this, I am inclined to think that with no coverage, it may well have been a bust? People in Vienna are not volunteers in the sense that they are willing to enjoy the free this and free that. After all, many believe as Mr. Harris and Ms. Kern put out that the whatever is free; the City will pay for it. Some free water, popcorn, foam, a pat on the back, kiss on one's butt and all think life is going great? Same for the events put on by the diminishing volunteers, they are free and cost no one anything. Again it is wrong; people's time is not free. They have given up of themselves for someone/ something that while tiring is satisfying and fulfilling while the body allows.
And as of Wednesday, have not received any Notice of Dismissal from my Law Suit. But one of two things will happen. I will not get any notice as was done to me before in an attempt to get case dismissed for failure to respond or it will show around the 3rd as Mr. Skogstand runs it out as long as he can? Been there, done that. 'nuff said'.
