The Column aspired to note how the Legislature held Mr. Justice in tow while not allowing the numerous tax/ fee/ surcharges (you call it folks), to go into effect. More on that scheme and how it has played out later. And the off the wall comment that Mr. Justice is not ready to understand most West Virginians. Hell yes, he is not- he is a Billionaire, not a scruffy guy or gal coming home from a low paying, no or few benefit job somewhere. There is no possible comparative, no way, shape or form that he can relate too in this day and age. The more well off a person is in this State, the more out of touch with its reality. You folks mostly live hard and are more poor than rich. It is how the pyramid works; very small at the top and all over the place at the bottom. Welcome to the real World. And the alleged "Editorial Staff" that writes some of the drivel that appears is far closer to the top than the bottom of the Pyramid?
I have been surprised sometimes by a gentle whiff of the Truth coming out in some of the columns that would denote the old traditional base that lived here for so long. But than the reality of what is/ has happened again erupts in Liberal spewing on how we need to better utilize our base for area improving Tourism versus real jobs that encourage people to live here. I can not fathom raising a family or owning a home on minimum wage here or anywhere? But by Hannah, Tourism is the future here. But in any case, you folks voted him in and like Misters' Obama and Rapp, he quickly showed his true colors and they are green, green and more green.
The C8 Documentary to be filmed here hopefully will allow for showing the lack of any type of testing for the folks in Vienna and Boaz that were exposed for Lord knows how many decades but because the wind borne damage went untraced, we are now on our own here.
And as I have noted time after time, Mr. Rapp is not seemingly about to sever his umbilical cord to the millions of dollars from Chemour/ DuPont versus the well being of the Vienna residents? They have been alleged to have provided the campaign dollars, that many of you sold him your votes for in a crisis that was manmade and self inflicted for votes versus the water issue. "You can keep drinking the water if you want" does not sound like a concerned City Executive to any prudent person? There is still talk going on about reactivating wells 7 & 8 for some reason? Could that water be channeled through the 12th St setup? What would that cost and to whom for whom? So hopefully, Mr. Spurlock will get past the local media and political elitists to learn the shenanigans that have and will continue here? As I have noted, the disease and death from the C8 has not ended here. More likely will just begin to be noted as it is now visible to the Public.
It was posted before on the way the Legislature held Mr. Justice in check on new Taxes/ Fees/ Surcharges in the General Budget. True, but they gave a lot back in the higher gasoline tax; the sales tax on vehicles and motor vehicle fees. Not $450 Million, but a pretty good chunk of change for those at the bottom. This is supposed to be in the form of bonds to do all the road projects that are planned? Can anyone remember Mr. Obama's shovel ready projects that cost the Country about $900 Million in round numbers? I don't either; just the Teachers, Police and Firemen that seemed to get hired and than had to hope that there was enough attrition when that money ran out to keep them employed? Let us see how that Referendum vote turns out?
And Mr. Rapp has returned to his 80% debris removal number now that they have again went back to a stubby pencil review of what is gone and what remains. Driving through there, the only section that seems near the cyclone fence that I can remember by River Road is the part of a wall used for the security fence that he does/ did not want to remove due to "not a problem" and can be remediated/ abated later per Mr. Leach. I will have to check again to see if I am driving to fast at 23 MPH on that stretch of road challenge?
While listening to the folks, I was surprised to find out that the Falling Leaves Festival had been cancelled for this year. Seems, not enough volunteers with Kiwanis in P'burg to undertake all the projects that have been done in past years?
So when Ms. DeBrular gave her little speech on starting up a Kiwanis Chapter here, it came as little surprise. While she talked to Mr. Rapp, Mr. Scholl and Mr. Pifer was a bit iffy, the issue is to have a group here to "volunteer" to put on the Festival. So now, we need to see who gets turned out to do the necessary work? In the end, it again became Politics as usual. 'nuff said'.
