It the Farm Bureau want to get deep into special genetics for animals and the improvements for such as potato crops, maybe it should be into providing the information and means for a farmer in one of those areas to purchase the animals and/ or seeds be they potato eyes for planting (how that would work I am sure would be sprouting spuds to cut up and plant?), or whatever is the soup du jour? To be actively involved in the growing/ raising process in a State Facility may be a bit much.
We are supposed to have a lot of experience and training on many of the farms here, so work WITH them and not against them. If they blow it, both will be out whatever is invested. If it works, the farmers could make a buck and than also be obligated to help spread the knowledge/ fruits of their labors to other farmers.
Then, comes the next shoe to drop on our State. Road maintenance under strain? Sure, because the necessary resources are tied up in overhead versus what I like to call the "dirt under their fingers" people. When things are so bad in a budget at a State level that $1.6 million is like finding a 100 Carat diamond, we are in big trouble. To throw the drivers under the bus for breaking their cars is a bit on the tough side. So many do not have insurance as it is; so where would they go for any restitution for damages from another such as the State? In this case a car eating road? The cost of $872. to process an average claim of $343. says a lot about the overhead costs. For sure needs fixing, but not by punishing the victims.
Hope the Courts do force Ms. Bresch to respond fully and timely to the Subpoena from Mr. Morissey and company that she seems to find to be a bit of an inconvenience? But the realities of West Virginia Law at any of the three branches to protect the common folks from those in positions of power and influence with a smattering of money and a father who is a U.S. Senator are probably slim to none. I have a source in fact who says saw slim with packed bags going over the bridge into Ohio?
And if we are not hearing enough about our almost bankrupt State, comes the suggestion that the State Agencies follow the suggestions of the Auditors? Knowing what I know about those having the power to say "you will or you shall" versus "you can or you should" is not much of a success story in the Government at any level or Agency. If one does not have a club, than one has to be the victim. In this case, it will be yet AGAIN the Tax Payers who have no one to protect them from the Elected/ Appointed Officials who are paid to WORK for the them.
Auditors many times work in generalities as most principles in good sound management techniques are an across the board concept. Basic accounting processes are not taught with everything being an exception. Double or multiple entry accounting as an example is just that. Move money from one account to another or into others as long as they add up. It if does not add up, you are one of two places. One, someone made an error; two is working in Government? The money is there in one slush fund or another. It just takes the time for a trained/ professional researcher to dig it out.
The example presented the other day on the Department of Education and its graduation rates came up suspect as too whether the kids were really ready for the World as they will have to live it? Most will not be, no matter how important the piece of paper in their hand. We have a lot of highly and in many cases overpaid Educators droning on and on in a class room to whoever chooses to show up on any given day. Comes test days and those with the answers do well; the rest settle for a B or C and move on. The students are being robbed worse than the current Tax Payers. Many of the students may soon learn they are not going to make as much as the current Tax Payers as flipping burgers does not pay as well.
The most interesting thing I found in the Daily Blat on Friday was not the dog and pony show at the Vienna Council meeting as I was there to see that Circus. And it was not the delivery of four more of the Filtration Systems by Sam's. Did not get there, but received several reports and I am STILL smelling the sweetheart deal I have alleged between Chemours/ DuPont and Mr. Rapp?
What was really News Worthy for a change was the item on the Roundtable and its efforts to retain or recruit businesses to our area? It was said they are trying to RETAIN 52 businesses while attempting to RECRUIT 37? Now I am not very smart, but it seems we are NOT going to do well in this deal if we might lose as many or more as we can keep and/ or replace.
I noted some time back on the long stretch of time it has taken to get the 12th St VUB and the two what ever buildings on 31st cleaned up, cleaned out and put on the market here in Vienna? Because we have so much money and because Politics are more important than the well being of the Community, a lot of effort has NOT been put out. Those three sites should be the first, last and foremost efforts by the City to work on and move from the City inventory.
Instead for most of this year, it has been Spencer's Landing with the Gold Star Memorial getting all the attention be it dollars or workers? Again, Mr. Rapp is far more interested in his re-election than working for the people of Vienna? In fact, I would suggest he does not want to "work" for us as much as show how much smarter he is than we are? I would not bet money on him in that category. Having the media in your pocket does not make you smart? It just shows how little respect the Elite's have for what is called the Vox Populi= YOU.
Again as was asked of me a few weeks back and I will ask of the City? Where and what is Mr. Thornton actually doing in a progressive mode? A $55-65K/ yearly Salary Package with no results is in some circles a very poor investment? So either put him in overdrive or explain the problems? 'nuff said'.
I am asking for your Vote "Change is in the Air"
(Paid for by the Candidate- Lawrence J. Wilson for Mayor of Vienna).
