Finally got as close to 100% in the tally on South Carolina with no surprises. As we all know, it was Mr. Trump, Mr. Rubio and Mr. Cruz at 1, 2, 3. Mr. Bush dropped out and it may well signal the end of the Bush Dynasty for some years? Of course, there are more coming and so we should not permanently cross them off the list for something somewhere? I believe one is running for Agriculture Commissioner in Texas?
I keep hoping for Mr. Kasich to do better, but he is not flamboyant enough; just super qualified. I think Mr. Kasich is hanging his hat on the Ohio Primary on 15 March? As the "Favored Son", he ought to take it? And we must not forget Mr. Carson, who is steadfast in his pursuit at least through Sunday night? Still like Mr. Christi for Attorney General of the U.S. With Mr. Trump saying "GO", he would be a nightmare for those who literally got away with murder for the past seven years and then of course this year.
The "Our Opinion" on Monday is starting the drumbeat alert for massive cuts in State Services to try and balance the disaster coming at us on 1 July 2016. I still think that other than the $112 million to bail out the PEIA folks for their 200,000+votes in November that there will be more tax increases sooner than later. May be put off till after 1 January to fully protect everyone running for re-election, but they I believe be a comin'. Just like the Water/ Sewer/ Storm Water increases here at home. The damage is done and time to pay the piper. Now with the C8 thing blowing up, it will have some cover because
(at this point fill in the blank)? But in Truth, the Water Funds are not very fat with money and Storm Water is about $100K in the red?
And we now have the folks from "Keep Your Promises" demanding more water filtering especially here in Vienna. I keep looking at that barn door being pushed shut and wonder where the horses have gone? AGAIN, why was the issue on the C8 washing down in the rain water not mentioned much earlier? The Group as you know if you are watching local coverage are declaring a "Health Emergency and embracing the new Harvard study of .001 per billion versus the .04 per billion that Mr. Rapp is going to stand by for the present time.
Would like to follow up on the conversation I had with some folks last Friday at the Mall and a lady in P'burg. We were talking about the Vienna Budget and I noted that on 1 Jan 2013, the City had about $5.8 Million in its Capital Reserve Fund. This was from carryovers each year for years from about $450 thousand to almost an even Million one year. Since then, it has dropped in the end of December 2015 to about $2.5 million. Oh, $3.3 million gone? Spent on what you might ask? But what is not noted was the fact that the City has rolled about $500 thousand into the Fund each year for 2013, 14 and 15. So we have not used just $3.3, but much closer to 4.8 Million. Now Mr. Azinger the Elder is only responsible for this Fiscal Year and the next one when they all raise their right hands in March to approve Lord only know how much to insure budgeting into every possible dollar.
He was in the 6-1 vote to deny any Tax Relief when Mr. Stephens pushed for it in this Fiscal Year last spring. He had adopted and kindly even noted it was my idea to reduce Property Taxes (since 2011). When he told me before the meeting what he was going to do in even trying for it two weeks earlier, I told him it was too late to even try; he was soundly trounced in the vote by ALL to include Mr. Azinger the Elder. Now the City Council had no problem with about $200 thousand in pay raises but could not find $200 thousand in Property Tax Relief. . As YOUR Mayor folks, you are going to get that Tax relief. 'nuff said.
