Had an interesting comment from someone this morning (Monday- 26th). Said he had been in either Aldi's or Foodland and wearing one of my Election T-shirts. The man asked if he knew me; answer was "Yes".
The fellow than went off on how Mr. Stephens had to put me in my place a few weeks back on my posting about who might get what position as the New Year approached and some retirements in the Sheriff's Department and City of Vienna took place.
The main jist of his argument was I did not know what I was talking about when I said there had been talk of a deal between Mr. Stephens and Mr. Woodyard on who would be Chief Deputy if the other one had won the May Primary. There was also a comment on the alleged possible falling out between the two and boy, had Mr. Stephens put me in my place.
Sadly for the Rappite, he was talking to the wrong man. The person told him very directly that HE was the one who had told me about the deal and that HE had got it from a high source in the Sheriff's Department. The guy just started sputtering and stammering. See folks, when in doubt, I am in the book and will be glad to talk on anything in my blogs that are not clearly to me in confidentiality from a source. In this case, I would have had to get confirmation on what I could release or not in the matter.
Instead the Rappites go around to protect Mr. Rapp and his current City Council members, no matter what they may think they want to do come January.
My sincerest thanks to my supporter for sticking up for me. For some of us, honesty is more than just a word.
The never ending story of Mr. Deem again comes out with his latest letter to the paper. He feels Mr. Trump should be elected because he "understands". Mr. Trump for sure is a business man; has piled up more money than most of us could spend in a lifetime or two. But to think he is the end to all ends is putting too much on his back when many of the problems here are of our own making.
The good people of West Virginia had drank the KoolAid for decades; trusted too few with too much and kept believing that to go around one more corner would show Shangri La. Combine that with the belief that we in Vienna really lived in Mayberry and life was for sure good.
Mr. Obama was very open back in 2008 that he was going to decimate the Coal Industry and right behind that, he was also quite willing to throw in the burgeoning fracking efforts. He was pretty much able to do that by going after as we know the Coal fired Power Plants. Using the belief that the U.S. is the ultimate villain of everything wrong with Green House warming. The amount of Greenhouse gases we spew forth of the gases going into the World Wide atmosphere yearly, is not a fact he uses to confuse the issue with? But nevertheless, we have and will pay for some time for his eight years. While we reduce by tiny, tiny amounts, China, India and other developing Countries say to us "life is tough"; you had your industrial age; now is our turn and spew tons and tons of death into the air each year. China and India are putting Coal Plants on line daily with no reductions in emissions.
Now there is little doubt that ever cleaner coal will make it more palatable to those who would grind us into the ash heap of History while protecting everything else from us. Still, we seem to be making little effort to do exactly that; make what we have more valuable by making it better to use.
Keystone is one of Mr. Deem's examples of how we blew a chance to send Canada crude down to the Gulf to process and send overseas to other markets. What is in it for us? Short term jobs building it will help short term. But long term chances are not clearly noted as a plus to the U.S.? And as far as West Virginia is concerned, we would deport more of our workers even for a while to another place to earn the bucks to make a decent living. Don't bet on them coming back once gone?
I am not very smart, but in my years of watching this Country go to Hell due to drugs and crime, it would be my observation that the disaster we call the free love society is more a danger than we want to face anymore. I can speak from personal experience in that a divorce is FAR, FAR more devastating to me than to lose a job. I guess I can envy Mr. Deem his marriage of XX years. I have not been so lucky and am fortunate to have a Sainte as a Wife now. There were days when I could be a handful when I was fighting for a cause no matter what. My lady bore with me in spite of my determination to do right for folks.
In the Philippines when I refused to pay bribes for peace and quiet in my home, she was a steadying force even on the night I tried to wrestle a 12 gauge from our guard. But I was still quite ill and in no mood to be attacked and allow them to try and over run my compound. Fortunately, when some cooler heads outside the gate realized they were on shaky ground, they policed up their errant brethren and took them home. The next morning, some of the women actually apologized to my wife. I do not speak Tagalog. Simply put, I believe in the "Castle Defense" and I ain't playing Chess.
Yes, we have massive unemployment nowadays and a drug problem almost beyond belief. But it will for sure take more than Mr. Trump to fix either. We need huge investments in retraining for those who have lost their careers/ livelihoods. We need huge influxes of programs to help with the drug issue. But we need to separate the addicted miner who has taken pain pills so he could work his shift versus the teenagers who have experimented with all the wrong people for all the wrong reasons.
We need to try and I am not sure we can reinvent the wheel of the family unit. Two generations of freedom for all at the expense of everybody has destroyed what many my age grew up with? Marriage in many places now is looked on as a sucker bet. Not worth the effort, time or money.
I listen to folks who say they are in Church every week. Good for them; we all need God in our lives. But for one, anyone to go to Church, sit through the Sermon, shake your hand on the way out, tell you how great a person you are and then lie, cheat and steal all they can get from your purse/ wallet from Monday to Saturday is not what I learned under the "Golden Rule"?
All of the issues with the loss of work; the addiction to drugs for whatever reason; the reasons to NOT create a family unit and to turn our backs on our God are what is destroying not just the great and wonderful place we live in; but our entire Country. Back to basics folks; back to basics.
And it would appear that Mr. Trump got his fanny handed to him in the debate tonight. 'nuff said'.
I am asking for your Vote. "Change is in the Air".
