This was the same vehicle and I would allege "driver" who cut me off at 28th street light one night at about 5:00 P.M. Drove up to 46th, made a right and than as I went through the streets weeks later found out he lives just up the road a few more blocks? At least the vehicle was parked in the street there a couple of times?
A prudent person could ask how a guy who got sued for beating up a 70 year old a couple of years back could be the new Police honcho? City is said to have offered a settlement to the "victim", but he wanted to have the sarge fired and refused the settlement? It got to Federal Court (?) and somehow got dismissed? I am not so sure but what it got mixed up with our local bunch down in Charleston and never made it too a Federal Court?
Does our illustrious duo of Mr. Rapp and Ms. Smith need an "enforcer" to shut down those of us who are questioning their Governmental behavior? Put nothing past these two and than not be to surprised at what happens? Could be more out on this later as the wheels of Truth turn? It has been alleged he has had a couple of incidents with old guys? Another lady told me her grandfather allegedly got beat up by the same officer a few years back too? But at the time, he was only about 69 so maybe qualified still as a kid? Maybe the reason old guys are the victims is that they still remember they had Rights?
Heard the cutest remarks/ jokes on this. If he is the new chief, if kept busy with paperwork, will not have time to be out on the streets beating up the old guys? Could it be that it was easier to remark the new SUV with 143 than to try and retrain the sarge on what the new number would be?
New reasons to pull someone over if not connected:
1. Not running a red light.
2. Not going in excess of 6 MPH over a posted speed limit.
3. Going less than 15 MPH in a school zone.
4. Using one's turn signals correctly and confusing other drivers.
Now some of the above are funnier than others I think? Now some of those were funny for sure. If it is him, suspect some interesting moments in the 'hoods? Let's wait for the announcement.
But for sure it would fit in with the direction the City Council has been going. More and more like an alleged Fascist one? Change the dark blue or black uniforms for brown ones so as to be in step.
Do hope we don't lose several of the younger guys. The ones who still believe in the Rule of Law and what it is supposed to stand for in this Country or at least in some places?
And then of course the folks in P'burg got only a 2.5% pay raise so far. Some complaining no raises for a couple of years. Try being on a Federal Pension/ SSA and see what 0% buys? Whiners. The Union guy was upfront; we will be back next year with the new Council for the other 2.5%.
The lame excuse put out by Mr. Columbo that it was to his expectation of a minimum wage increase? Guess he has an inside track on this? If Mr. Rapp gives it any thought, he will also immediately vote a $1.00- 2.98 raise for the City to insure they don't lose anything. They are due for another $3K- 5K raise again. Course Ms. Smith will probably complain "it is not enough; we deserve more". Use to be back in the days of Fiscal Responsibility that one would wait to see what was happening and than make any adjustments? And why does the Government pay have to go up anyway. They are all above, especially in Vienna, way above minimum wage. Nothing says there must be a spread of so many dollars/ %s between the two?
And the whining about some having to pay more for their insurance because of the raise in 2014? That is called "life" in the real world. Whine and whine and whine it goes. You got it made folks, live with it.
And of course now the BOE is complaining about a possible budget cut? If a "serious" person could not find at least $750K in legitimate reductions in 90 days, they should not be paid for the search. BUT when they find at least that amount, they should get a tax paid 10% finders fee. This talk of "frugal with the Tax Payers money" is just so much crappola. It is actually an inability to see the forest for the tree. Every and I repeat every Government level has money hidden in accounts that are little more than slush funds. Has been that way for 200 years and will be for 200 more. AGAIN, just cut some of the excess Supervisory levels and that money will drop like manna from Heaven. No wear and tear on the front line folks and more especially, none for the kids.
Yet again, the "Our Opinion" folks come out with "Justice has his work cut out for him". The saving grace for him may well be if Mr. Trump can in a reasonable and efficient manner begin to turn the EPA around in its mad rush to shut down coal for any use within this Country. That reversal of what is called loosely a Policy can within a few months re-open some of the mines shut down and maybe help some companies find a road out of bankruptcy that includes hiring more miners? It may be a tall order to do much very quickly so we are still looking at a long hard rest of the Fiscal Year.
Some concern as Canada is purportedly no longer going to use coal for producing Electricity. It has just four of its ten Provinces using it now so hopefully the cut will have minimal issues here?
It is imperative for those miners who may get lucky and go back to work that any mine they venture down into have it tunnels/ equipment checked very carefully. We for sure do not need a bunch of guys trapped in a reopened mine just to start production a day or so too soon.
We need to hope there is a fast but fair resolution on the BOE Employee who allegedly made some racist comments on Facebook? It was said that the person was a PHS employee, but latest info does not bear that out? 'nuff said'.
