Point, it was and is a "soft target" and suffered it seems because of that when the Young Turk went in and opened fire in the Mall. Five dead now and he is in custody.
We too are a "soft target" and no matter what we do can only do so much. We are because of our airport a more desirable target than Burlington which I "think" only has a small private plane facility? It is called Skagit Regional Airport.
Now from there to SeaTac is a hop, skip and jump of a very few miles and was not likely in any way a part of the killings/ attack in the shopping Mall. Here would also be the Mall and it is much bigger than the one in Burlington.
But excluding SeaTac and how important it is to that area, Portland International (PDX), is about 180 miles South, so it is a noteworthy target to the crazies. What is different here is one can get to so many large airports in a short period of time. Look at everything from Cleveland to as far down as Atlanta and all in between as we go to Dulles, La Guardia and so forth. Remember most of the population in the U.S. is located in an 800 mile strip on the East Coast.
And because of my all the time looking and observing, it did not take me long to size up the facility. I have given thought several times when leaving myself for waiting for my wife to leave/ arrive, on better security for there, but only so much than can be done and unless a threat, will not be done.
And this guy was a naturalized Turkish individual who may have been after a lost lady friend or just had a grudge with Macy's which has a large store foot print in that area of the Country? Time will as in most things out the Truth.
But, the really, really main issue here for us: Be alert; be safe. Something suspicious; talk to the folks who are in authority in that place.
Noted another interesting fact in the news on Saturday and that was the denial by the West Virginia State Supreme Court (WVSC), to allow Ms. Wilcox to file a late appeal in her case against some of the rest of the P'burg City Council on an Open Meetings Law violation. Now the case was initially decided in December of 2015 by one Mr. Beane. But, the Court Order was not entered until March in the Circuit Court Clerks' Record.
When I was trying to get my FOIA cases through the local system, an Attorney who would provide me some pro bono advice but not represent me in court advised that I had to watch for this very exact thing for my cases. Apparently in West Virginia and I don't know about other States, it is a not so subtle ploy to wait for sometime to actually enter the case in the Record even though it may have been decided at a different time in the past? This allows the 30 day clock to supposedly run out and Appeals become a non event as happened to Ms. Wilcox? I was advised to check the Docket at least twice a week; I chose to do so on a weekly basis and only lost a few days when it finally showed up.
In my meanderings, I did note where some notices that were to be sent to me by the ADA/ City Atty., who I have alleged over and over is nothing more than Mr. Rapp's personal defense Atty., against the people who pay both their salaries did not happen as defined in Court Protocols? Those of course paying those salaries, being the Tax Payers of Vienna. In any case I caught yet another of the very questionable tactics to get paperwork concerning the Court Trial Decisions around me and through the Court?
It would sadly appear that Ms. Wilcox and crew were not so watchful and observant. Missed the thirty day window to file. And as I noted earlier, the WVSC Appeal Process is set up to stop people from easily filing an Appeal. In my cases, I had been told the Court was not going to find for me against the City as it was 1. Lenient towards Government entities who failed to obey the time limits of the FOIA Law that I sued under. 2. As I had made the mistake of trying a second time to get same information that was done, it was considered that the first Freedom of Information Law (FOIA), had been completed. Ms. Wilcox got trapped in that approach also. After she filed her case, the rest of the P'burg Council held a meeting to fix her complaint, ergo no basis for complaint; Rob the Bank; later return the money; ergo no bank robbery had occurred. Only it would seem in West Virginia can one find that sort of convoluted interpretation of a Law? What would be the finding if one tried to rob a bank; got stopped while doing it and no money stolen/ returned? As the robbers got stopped in the act, therefore no robbery attempt was made? The "Machine", no matter in Vienna or P'burg is allegedly going to be protected no matter what it may take?
The only big difference is I had to go Per Se (self representation), versus the good lady I suspect paid a goodly sum for her representation? The folks from Vienna or P'burg to the State level deserve better; much, much better. And it will NOT happen until some of these people are thrown OUT of office.
And in the never ending story of more and more free Election coverage for one Mr. Rapp, it was noted in the Sunday paper (of course) that he had presented at a Nursing Home in P'burg, a Certificate to a lady that had her 100th Birthday. Now, had he done this with OUT the paper and its noting by same, it might have been a kindness to the lady. Instead, as I noted in the Circus that was a City Council Meeting last Thursday, he again found someone to use as a prop to get his name in the paper?
This kind of on going free Election publicity is actually little more than a joke in the desperation to get him re-elected. As has been noted several times before, the Managing Editor of the local Daily Blat is little more than the alleged Public Relations guy for Mr. Rapp as both live in Vienna.
How many times has he visited a Vienna Centurion in the past 4 years? Betcha not so many if at all? But now to get any possible election attention, he is all over the place and insuring a mention in the Daily Blat. To me, it seems nothing more than a slimy, sleazy use of what should be a respected and revered individual and the Blessing to her by God?
It would have been more respectful had he in his past twelve (12) years on the Vienna Council been more concerned about the safety and taxation for our Seniors?
As we get closer and closer to the Election, it is time to look closely at what has and is being offered by Mr. Azinger the Elder (currently missing in action for six to eight months): Mr. Rapp who has a record of excessive taxation and spending or a guy who will be privileged to work for you and improve the day to day well being of our Community? 'nuff said'.
I am asking for your Vote. "Change is in the Air".
