Since I wrote the post for yesterday, the Teachers have been voted a 4% over three years. But that is not enough. Already have dug $29 Million out of State Rainy Day Fund to pay to keep PEIA premiums at current level with no known coverage reductions, still not enough.
Than is the alleged 1 1/2% as an annual raise already insured under the guise of what could be called the infamous WIGI- Wage Increase Grade Increase in the Federal System or whatever by the local Contract. So that is 3 1/2, 2 1/2, 2 1/2 for three years= 8 1/2%, still not enough.
What is truly surprising at least to me was the closing of the Schools so the Teachers would not be breaking the Law by doing the work stoppage? This also protects them from losing what is an entitlement to them it seems, to what they call Teacher Attendance Bonuses? They are paid to work, but also being paid if they just go to work. In the day, getting paid for going to work was considered a fair deal. Now they get paid to go to work and paid whether they work there or not? Sounds like a helluva deal to me?
The State is totally screwed, the School Districts have sided with the Unions to bring down the State Board of Education and also to thumb their noses at the Legislature. Not enough raises, one will see huge voting block shifts away from any incumbents that say No for any reason. Nothing to worry about here, all five of our illustrious ones will have whiplash throwing their arms up to vote a hearty Yes. Getting re-elected is far more important than why and for what/
Is it not interesting that after fours years, suddenly Mr. Flint will be persona non grata in the hallowed halls of the School Board? Seemed whatever is was well covered till the end?
The Daily Blat is so desperate for news about their fair haired boy that the Starbucks news is out for about what, the third time now? Went to one in Seattle, bought something or another and told the wife- never again and have kept my word to this day.
But as I posted before, in the Philippines, a Starbucks container is a status sign. Lot of people here will probably glue one to their dash boards right next to their cell phones. This allows a look of love as they reach for the Cellphone to use at 35 miles per hour down our tight little streets.
Then we suddenly get two and a half columns of advertising for the PM Company which for anyone who does not know is owned by the Minnite Family? Mr. Rapp says they are top shelf as everything they do is first class. He should know considering how much they do for him as he needs assistance in something or another?
Fortunately, their efforts are well recognized and they receive all due for their endeavors.
Right there, Mr. Rapp just gave me a second possible reason to never go into the new Starbucks? Was a bit sad to see some trees being torn down. But there are so many in Vienna that losing a few all the time is not a problem. Just insures we get to breathe in the air pollution that they would have absorbed. What can we say, more C8 for everyone?
Seems that some of the posting is a bit down for the folks and especially the kids. Two days of vacation since closed Schools probably will not require a make up. Hope everyone finds the needed alternative "safe" spots and the place where the little ones can get their "nutritional" needs met? Seems a sad commentary when the are either only safe in their homes (?), or at a local School (?). Combined with for some a seemingly lack of nutrition if in the homes?
What has happened to us that we can not seem to protect or feed the kids we bring into the World? Or are we being brainwashed that a School is the only safe place for the kids to go to do whatever and be fed? 'nuff said'.
