"Mr Wilson I think you really need to check your facts on what the fire chief makes in a year and what his job description is. Could you manage a great bunch of guys/gals, which are in fact like family, and send them in harms way knowing your ass as the chief is responsible to make sure your crew goes home safe to their families? I'm sure the answer to that is no so for you to say he does nothing is a load of crap and by all means if you think it's such an easy job come join our department to learn a little bit and truly help your community instead of bad mouthing the city employees".
Once again, the Rappites try to distract from the issue(s) by trying to accuse me of attacking the VFD members versus the performance of Mr. Scholl. Let us talk about the Salaries and Benefits for Mr. Scholl, the new guy whose job is I am led to believe perpetual maintenance and the lady doing the clerical work. Three (3) people Mr. Congrove- three (3). The amount budgeted for them effective 1 July 2016- 30 June 2017 is $225,648.00. Now what part of the facts do I need to correct? In the 2014- 2015/ Fiscal Year for Mr. Scholl and his clerical help, it was $182,105.00. When the new guy came on board for the 2015- 2016 Fiscal Year, it was $223,911.00. Because of a change in status the new year has dropped $21,416 for Health Insurance Premiums. Otherwise, it would have been $247,064.00. Now what part of my numbers are wrong?
Is the City lying about the amounts in the Budget? It is almost a right of passage to put money all over the place until the end of a Fiscal Year and then it become more apparent as too what will be the "roll over" on 30 June. Is that your out, that the Budget is hiding some slush fund money in the Salaries and Benefits for the full time VFD employees?
Now I know Mr. Scholl is your bud. I have seen the picture of the hog with the two cute babies on it that are alleged to all be his; both bike and kids. I do not know what he is telling you; but I know you are wrong.
I know his job requirements were changed a couple of Fiscal Years back because he could not do an inspection of all 600 businesses in Vienna every six months as mandated in the City Ordnance. Instead it became a "may" instead of a "shall". And they appointed another to help him. As I have noted before these two poor souls did ten (10) inspections in a 12 month period after this change went into affect.
Do you think it is okay to "possibly" send these Volunteers into a build with barrels of kitchen grease piled up; or maybe gasoline in cans behind a counter or in a storage area for whatever purpose; or maybe a bottle of liquid Oxygen or Nitrogen because no one has any idea what is in a fire site?
Instead, he is all over Wood County drumming up support for a Fire Board Fee (Tax), that a whole lot of folks in Vienna don't want any part of to begin with. If he has time to be on that Board, than he had best have time to be doing inspections also.
Other than your misdirection, misinformation, deceit and deception, what is your point? I would venture I am MORE safety conscious than anyone in this fine City..... Period.
Found it interesting how the Washington County Health Guru complained about not enough input on what is or is not right with our local air? Only Ozone was tested and County got a "Failed". No 24 hour or annual pollutants data. Well, when I was young I ignorantly put my hand on a hot stove burner. Don't remember if it was on high, medium or low? Just that it burnt like Hell. After that did now worry about the setting, just the end result. Maybe they should be cheering for a "D", instead of for a "Fail"?
The fact that Wood County went to Hell in a handbasket should be no surprise. I am not very smart, but the never ending layer of dust all over everything is a pretty good indicator of air quality here. And one thing I did learn from Mr. Nohe was that our air is so dirty because of the Ohio side of the river and all those mills/ plants spewing poison and filth into the air. Trade off for the jobs/ wages? We need both; jobs/ wages and clean air to live a higher quality of life. Solution: No idea. There is not a lot of interest in R&D to clean up the problem unless it is a Power Plant. There perfect solution, just shut if down and let a "new" or farther away plant raise rates and put a few dozen or thousand folks out of work.
And chuckled at the proposed Law to move gun ranges away from populated/ congested areas. Allow me a stupid question? Who was there first? Would think that many of the ranges may be like grandfathered in against new Laws which would infringe on their property rights? Seems like the next thing we will have is people being denied the right to fly our National Colors? Wait a minute, that is already happening !!!!
As an aside on the Colors; would be nice if someone would mention to Mr. Bibbee that when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag that he might consider showing a little less respect and take his hand OUT of his left pocket. Could even extend it to the guy on the Tree Commission. If one can not show proper respect for the Flag, than just stay sitting and don't show one's stupidity. Like not wanting to enter into a Prayer; just be quiet and allow those who still love and respect God to do so.
Ran into the same issues on a much larger scale in both the Portland International and Seattle/ Tacoma International Airports. When built, were a few miles away from most of the people in surrounding areas. One notable exception was the City of Des Moines, Washington which was happy to have Sea/Tac., on its Western edge. They are almost completely insulated from air noise as the planes land/ take off North to South with almost no noise for the City. They have almost NO taxes because of what make from the Airport.
In any case, the rest of both Airports were basically in the open when built. Then as we love to build and build with little or no concern for the end results, all of a sudden the Airports were not loved or wanted neighbors. There were of course valid concerns as we went from prop planes to our modern jets; from a hundred passenger size to hundreds of passengers.
I owned a home eight miles from the Sea/Tac., airport for years and initially there were some problems with planes coming in too low, too soon. Actually cracked a 6' x 8' picture window. Could have filed a claim, but the airport management was notorious for denying anything that far out due to the anticipated deluge of "false" claims. So when installing some new windows in two of the bedrooms, I just paid $300. to get the pane replaced. Eventually as the evidence mounted on the way the airlines were abusing the agreements, they ended up with the FAA lowering the boom on them. So it got nice and quiet. But the homes were there when the airport was built/ expanded so not like was built into it.
Another surprising fact to me is that it is Illegal to bait Turkeys, but okay to do so with Deer. Where I grew up, baiting was a nicer way to say "Poaching". There the real hunters went out and tracked Bambi; did not put out food to lure them into a trap. I don't hunt anymore but still remember trying to track a buck through the brush and open areas if it broke cover. But, I also try to understand local culture on this and try to be tolerant of what is going on. Just can't quite understand the "why" of it?
Found something as I was going through the TV guide on my set. The Andy Griffith show is on TV Land at 7:36- 8:12 P.M. some evenings. Mr. Rapp could tape it so as to not miss a show. For sure would give him some ideas on how to direct the City affairs? We just don't have our Barney. 'nuff said'.
