And the bit rush to get it all done by early July if the Petitions can not be done. I am going to go out on a limb and say the Fire Board/ County Commission want to put it too everyone with the next Tax Statements? Lots of luck to those folks; but the system is not set up to allow an anti Fee (Tax), to really take shape.
And a couple of folks are already starting with their petitions to put the Fee (Tax), on the Ballot. I am going to suggest they come North to Vienna and Williamstown first. Won't get their 30% but will get a lot as so many for sure in Vienna are not happy with the deal. Maybe the reduction for all the folks that are getting the Homestead Exemption will change that as it will bring the Fee (Tax) closer to what is being paid now. Seems would be about $15.71 versus the $23.40 I pay now. I think I would somehow find a way to at least get back to the $23.40? A donation I guess?
Expect Chemours to cough up about $6 Million for the new filtration system. Sure hope someone thinks about drilling those two new well if 7 & 8 are losing production? Or again, can they be easily moved later? It is going to take about 6 weeks and Mr. Metz says a month or so for new well, it only makes sense to consider them now? And Chemours is going to "operate the GAC water treatment"? Now that seems odd, no mention of how long? Five years; ten years; a Century till maybe the water leaches clean?
I still think Chemours is going to get run into bankruptcy as the cases pile up in the Courts now. About 700 total to do something with? And any new ones will only add more bricks to the wall. Someone noted to me a couple of weeks back on several (about 6 I think), that had developed one of the supposed diseases (Thyroid problems), that were alleged to be caused by C8. And they were all Vienna women.
News showed today (24th), that we will be on P'burg as of tomorrow. This from 28th St. (changed with 5:00 P.M. news down to 23rd), down to P'burg City Limits. The connection will be behind home depot I believe they said? Are we going to be charged P'burg rates for water/ sewer at this time? Or just water rates? Or still Vienna rates? (seems we are to be paying Vienna rates). I guess a little change each couple of hours will justify another TV interview and more camera/ mike time? Is seems interesting they are doing this with the possible reason for the MOV Medical Center and the Dialysis Clinic near too it? Could they have not put a big 10K gallon water tank there and refill at night? But I was told that two of the tankers that came in earlier had to be rejected because they had things floating around on the top? Seems like Mr. Rapp is throwing you know what at the walls to see what will stick? But of course with every new revelation comes another photo/ mic op and of course the ones in the paper.
And I have seemed to miss the call letting me offer to help with the distribution of water to the folks? I guess Mr. Rapp was afraid that I might talk to some of the folks and they would find out I am not such a bad guy. Only ask people do their jobs. And I sure as Hell don't want any cameras around me. But it again shows what he is made of.
Paper says in their "Our Opinion" column on the 22d that we "Don't Panic". Don' think I saw anyone panic except the City running out and buying large quantities of bottled water per some observant folks? Also says City only had a few hours notice before the warning by the EPA was released. I think they spent some of that grabbing that alleged buy on bottled water?
And of course our Legislature is tied in knots because so many signed Mr. Norquist's "no new taxes" pledge. Seems to me, that common sense should override a pledge that fails to address what might happen if no money from "somewhere" to try and balance the budget? I am not a big new tax fan as I know there is so much money wasted by departments each year at any level that until that is wrung out, we should be really suspicious of a new tax? Is there $270 million; now that I don't know since I am not allowed to dig in the accounts. But I do suspect that the $120 million of it for PEIA could be made whole by at least $45- 60 Million from the PEIA folks. A lot, but so are the benefit to them. I will also note that in the article on the 22d (W.Va anti-tax lawmakers shape talks in dire budget), Mr. Azinger the Younger was absent with his pandering for votes from the poor. Maybe the kid figured out that life is as dear to a poor person as one like himself who lives high on the hog?
Well, as of 2:45 P.M. today (24th), Mr. Azinger the Younger did vote against the cigarette tax increase. I am so against people smoking because of what it does, that I am for sure thinking he is NOT much of a Delegate and would make an even worse Senator. I would every time think it's better to have my loved one's around rather than gone. He may be representing people, but I am thinking they wear suits and work for big Tobacco. Think twice; vote once. 'nuff said'
