Than comes what is most surprising that the Vienna Public Library is making what may well also be major changes in its processes? I am going to suspect once again that there will be a whole lot of "Bubbas" going on? IF and I repeat IF changes are made to benefit the kids and not the Political Machine, than that will be a very good thing. Children however do not seem to be number one most times when things are done in the Political Winds of Vienna. It would sadly not surprise me to see where many people become ineligible to be on the Board by the time the dust settles? Let us hope for the best (kids), and be prepared for the ???????
Another big surprise, is the "Our Opinion" column going after the State's Department of Administration and one Susannah Carpenter, the Chief Financial Officer for the Department. I would not at any time be protective of ANY Government Worker who is failing or appearing to fail in doing what they are paid to do?
But to go after poor Mr. Justice who clearly states he is responsible for nothing that goes wrong under his Administration is unbelievable? After all, what is $245 million in a State which has a budget in the Billions each year? After all, how many hundreds of millions of dollars did the Legislature dig out of who knows where last year in the Executive side of the State Government?
As this is apparently the third year in a row that this has occurred and now the Feds are slapping the State down, there is something that should have been fixed last year; the second time around.
Now I have had several contacts in the past with this Department on other matters and it has been courteous, cooperative and knowledgeable in helping me each time. So I would not go off on the whole group but for sure there are some who seem to need to be wished the best of luck in their new career pursuits? Vienna is always hiring and as long as they can prove a family connection, a neighborly one or just being someone's bubba, employment should be easy?
I would like to note that the State Bureaucracy won in the last Budget go around and shows that within its ranks there are those who are above the standards they should be using? In that respect I will have no problem with agreeing with the Daily Blat.
But according to what I have read on the recently imposed "sanctions", the issue seems the schools pay student disbursements for what ever program is in question and than have to request reimbursement versus getting the funds up front from the Feds? Now it was also noted that the reimbursements usually take about two weeks after payment is requested? This is beginning to get a bad smell based more on Mr. Trump, oops Mr. Justice bashing? Now Mr. Justice has basically promised that heads will roll once he finds the guilty parties. Does he mean there will be reassignments within Departments/ Branches of his Administration? Or as I noted above a few going down the road as appropriate?
A letter sent by our infamous five (5), member delegation to Ms. DeVos, the U.S. Education Secretary stated that the ones' being most harmed are the low income students receiving Pell Grants and Federally subsidized student loans? Why is my question? I am not seeing any real problem except the Schools pay the students out of pocket up front and request those funds back from the Feds? So what is the real problem here? A two (2) week delay in the transfer of funds for the Schools?
In the end with a couple of exceptions as I have noted, it seems more like the usual far LEFT media going on a witch hunt? Has anyone checked Mr. Justice for HIS Russian connections?
Then we have one Mr. Hill, who is the (ready for this?), Chancellor of the State Higher Education Policy Commission. Now there is a $200K/ Year or more chance to cut some losses and look at what he does in relation to what he is paid to do? A "Chancellor" could be better suited to running an actual Institution rather than a "Commission". I can only hope that someone in our Legislature reads this and does THEIR job to check this guy out? 'nuff said'.
