" How WV., is blocking efforts to Drain their Swamp".
There is a National move afoot to hold a Convention of the States. It is supposed to be allowable under Article 5 of the Constitution? And of course, here is Article 5:
Article V, U.S. Constitution
* * * * * * * * * *
Article V
The Congress, whenever two thirds of both houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose amendments to this Constitution, or, on the application of the legislatures of two thirds of the several states, shall call a convention for proposing amendments, which, in either case, shall be valid to all intents and purposes, as part of this Constitution, when ratified by the legislatures of three fourths of the several states, or by conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other mode of ratification may be proposed by the Congress; provided that no amendment which may be made prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight shall in any manner affect the first and fourth clauses in the ninth section of the first article; and that no state, without its consent, shall be deprived of its equal suffrage in the Senate.
Moving forward on this, there are currently 12 States that have signed on to have this Convention. Here is where WV., has what are being called "Liberty Killers".
Tim Armstead Speaker of the House of Delegates Ph: 304.340.3210 Email: [email protected]. The comments than went on to say he has bigger aspirations and appears to be running for the WVSC. For two years in a row, he has kept the Senate Bill from the House Floor for a vote.
Than one John Shott who is the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee. Ph: 304.340.3252 Email: [email protected].
Commentator went on to say that some people are afraid of change I can certainly see where that is a possibility just by looking around our little corner of the World in Vienna? So if anyone wants the States to make suggestions for Amendment changes to our U.S. Constitution, the above is whom you need to contact to allow for a WV., State vote.
Getting back to our Town Hall Meeting, more of the comments/ questions:
S) We have people who have been on our Council for 30- 35 years. How about term limits of no more than 8 years- two terms?
Mr. Conley, I don't know, will have to look into it?
Mr. Sasyn asked about Council Districts to break up the "Good Old Boy's Club"?
S) How about getting our Freedom of Speech back? We know who started that.
S) We need a Charter like Parkersburg.
S) Does the City have a Noise Ordinance? People are out running chainsaws and putting on roofs at 8:00 A.M.
S) Do we have a Fireworks Ordinance. I have picked up large quantities of waste on my property to include on my roof.
Ethel Harris: Our Code Enforcement Officer is only concerned about permits for yard sales permits.
S) How about an Item Ordinance for the PD Funds where they can only be used for Cruisers, other equipment only?
The above shows more of what people have on their minds. But very few ever go to a City Council Meeting because they do not believe they will be heard or anything will happen.
One thing that bothered me was each I looked back at whomever was speaking, Mr. Scholl was just sitting there seemingly "glaringly" at Mr. Conley? Now I have been the recipient of this during the Candidates Forum last October when he did the same thing to me for the whole hour. So am familiar with it, and you may ask but what he was doing it to me? Well, there was absolutely no eye contact this time as in last October. And I don't believe he is that timid by any stroke of the imagination? In any case, it serves little purpose to do something like that. He is for sure entitled to his opinion as is Mr. Conley/ Mr. Elem. I am far shorter/ older than Mr. Conley so if Mr. Scholl chose to thump on me, there would be little I could do. Still, I am not intimidated and suspect neither was Mr. Conley if so treated?
But than I was advised he was writing notes like mad. So now I think I know who was the carrier of tales that night?
He certainly did not have to be there unless told to go? And that would not have necessary either as the local Media covered every word and reported same faithfully.
Since my comments on the Article 5 Convention took up more space than I intended or
thought it would, I will continue the Town Hall tomorrow. 'nuff said'
