It is my habit over the years to not ask God for anything. I for one do not feel I am worthy of His Largesse and secondly am quite aware of those who are so much more needy and deserving than I. So I just go forward with what I believe to be the straight and narrow in life with attempts even out of Public Service to continue to be an excellent Public Servant. To help others who do not know, are afraid, or beaten down is a worthy Vocation and one I have chosen voluntarily and with pride in serving.
Having said and pursued the above with more modesty/ humility than you may believe seems to have possibly borne some fruit.
In the Daily Blat today, Wednesday the 21st of March was an article that made me believe that possibly, just possibly God took time out of His Day to give me a crumb for my efforts. That article that stated that the Public Integrity Special Investigations Unit has been formed to investigate corrupt public officials and employees and so on and so forth. Is it possible that this will be just another waste of time, money and resources? Very possibly but than again, it may just sweep up so many City People, Judges, County People and so on. I for one am going to do a special prayer to thank God for this Unit and its success.
Based on some very kind words yesterday, they now seem almost prophetic and I hope true. By the time you read this, I will have for sure made at least one phone call and unlike some who do not like to put their names on anything, I as many of you know have my name all over what I do. Even examined my old and well used sword for nicks/ dings and sharpened as best I could.
For years and years, I have fought corruption and won some and lost some. Twice my Federal Career came to a grinding halt because I stood up to what I knew was wrong. But I take a lot of pride in bringing the corruption out in the open at the Social Security Administration on the misuse of funds allocated for employee awards, but instead probably 40- 50% were siphoned off each year for Management use. And that was more for goodies than any value to the Tax Payers and more so those who depended or looked to SSA for help/ assistance.
I spoke briefly last night with someone who was reluctant to do his duty because the people in question were "good guys" and I will add also "good gals". But the issue was the Rule of Law and obeying the Law not most of the folks involved through no fault of their own.
This is what stood me in my own mind and heart for so many years is that I do not play favorites and believe as I said above in the Rule of Law. That is all that separates us from the other animals in this World are the Laws that we make that are supposed to protect us from the animals be they two or four legged.
The people in Vienna have been lied too, had their monies wasted and knowingly or not been wronged by a few in the interests of a few for most or all of the past 20 years as a minimum.
Your Public Safety has been along with the infrastructure of the Vienna where it so quickly affects your day to day activities has been ignored for both stupid and corrupt reasons. Now, I can only hope that some in the City/ County pay for their strong beliefs in Cronyism, Favoritism and Nepotism.
Yes, I am mad and I am happy. Mad that has taken so long and may not work as it should; happy that it is now happening and I hope quickly and with good results. I want to see some of these clowns escorted out of a Public Building in a nice shiny pair of bracelets.
It was my intent to write a bit more on that disgrace we called a City Council Meeting Thursday, but my exhilaration at the above news has used too much space in feeling very, very good and so very, very hopeful.
Let us see what the City Council Meeting tonight brings? 'nuff said'.
