When it first showed up on the West Coast in the early 80s, Doctors thought it was Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Treated it as such and it was a complete failure. Finally CDC got involved and identified it plus appropriate treatment.
Now I foolishly tried to alert the City Council a couple of years ago and of course got the usual fish eye and no more action. There was talk of Deer Hunts last year I think because Bambi was causing so much damage to the plants in the City. In fact a neighbor just told me that she had seen 40- 50 deer wandering the area at 2:00 A.M. in the morning when she was up. I am suspicious of how anyone may count at 2:00 A.M. in the morning? But for sure the damn things are out and destroying anything they can get too.
I also spray my yard with insect killer to get fleas, ticks and anything else that may be a problem to the household. But for sure the dogs. If they get something, it will end up in the house and is a short step from four legged animal to two legged animal. So we cannot be too careful.
Guess those Obamacare increases for 2016 are for real. As I noted before, Oregon approved a 25.6% increase for Moda, the biggest insurer in state. Than told Health Net to raise its premiums by 34.8% instead of the 9% it had planned; Blue Cross/ Blue Shield pulled out of New Mexico when it could not get the increase it wanted. Could be rough as other State plans are submitted to the State's Insurance Regulators? Nothing showing yet for here, but by October the cat should be out of the bag? Hang on kittens; hang on.
Finally got some of the answers I was looking for from a State Agency and will publish that on Monday. It is somewhat surprising but confirms my earlier post unfortunately.
This is for the reader that asked about the street sweepers for the City. Saw one go by my place Wednesday Morning at 7:20 A.M. Than back on same side of street about 8:30 A.M. Went to end of 10th St. by 12th Ave and appeared turned around and seemed to be stopped? But at least was on my side of street going East. Don't know if he made as far as my house?
As a further aside on the City Council meeting Thursday, Mr. Rapp noted:
"Core drilling took place at the Spencer’s Landing project last week at the former Johns Manville plant site. Rapp said Triad Engineering finished core drilling on the river side of the park and once the results from the samples are received, they will be compared with results from nine months ago and will be submitted to the West Virginia Division of Environmental Protection".
Now Triad is too my knowledge an old and established "testing/ Engineering" company in this area? I have been given to believe that it may have been involved in a Building Survey of the site many, many years ago? Would it be in any way, shape or form beneficial to compare their results from earlier examinations of the property?
And another company with strong ties to Vienna is Burgess and Nipple. They have also been active in testing on the site and covered the entire 37 acres per my informational source? What about comparing their prior results to what is occurring now?
It seems surprising that different companies are being used for different reasons? It would appear to a prudent person that having similar tests evaluated over a large term of time would more readily show whether the materials, whatever they may be could be noted for decreasing OR increasing in their severity to the Public?
Now the letter that Mr. Rapp is seeking to begin work on the site is not due until the middle or end of next year according to my response from DEP? Hopefully, there is no pressure being applied to DEP to "expedite" findings and possibly simplify their effects on the site?
Again and again, I stress the safety of the Children destined to use the area. 'nuff said
