"Kill the Messenger". Made in 2014 and is a docudrama.
It covers an Investigative Reporter's expose starting in about 1996 of the above noted issue.
I cannot in anyway confirm what is in the movie. All I know is what I heard in mid 1980s. But, it is very, very, very plausible and probable in its accuracy.
At the end, it had a segment where John Deutsch, that Director of the Cia had the Agency in 1998, release a 400 page report wherein it was admitted to the contacts between the CIA and Contra members in drug dealing. He "resigned" one month later. (Read -forced out). Having re-read this several times, I realize there is a possibility by some that the prior comment originally in dark print is part of the movie itself? It is NOT, it is a suspicion on my part? At a meeting between the CIA and by Maxine Waters, Representative for that part of Los Angeles, some were very outspoken on the Integrity (Oh one of those three words) of the CIA, AND that the Reporter, a Mr. Gary Webb be allowed access to ALL records during the Investigation. I do not believe that this was allowed to happen? The prior sentence is also an observation by me wherein I am again suspicious it did not happen? Updated 10:40 A.M., 04/ 21/ 2017.
In 1997 Senator Kerry noted that the planes carrying drugs to the U.S., were also carrying Guns to the Contras. It also showed a map which so surprisingly to me showed a route into of all places West Virginia for plane flights from Central America.
In 2004, Mr. Webb was found dead and it was classified as a Suicide. But it took two (2) bullets to the head for it to be accomplished.
One Admiral John Poindexter and a Lt. Col. Oliver North took the blame for the whole problem and to this day, the Truth is now in the hands of both Mr. North and Mr. Poindexter.
I found as I expected that the movie was very interesting; you may or may not? But in the scheme of things, I said earlier "Do I have all the details, of course not". But that movie filled in so many things that had been hinted at to me in the mid 80s, that I for sure have an even better understanding of what had happened to our Country then and up too today.
Than to finish off this day (Wednesday), I watched a recording of the "Staying Alive: A Grammy Salute to the Bee Gees". WOW, talk about bringing back the memories of the mid 70s through the middle 80s. I had what was a helluva run in that 12 year period.
You had to be there folks, you had to be there. 'nuff said'.
