I had commented that the use of the "Q" had been missing from the lexicon for some years as a normal usage word. Than today in the daily blat, I found where a lady by the name of Ms. Jacobs was involved with WVU in Morgantown that was involved in the GLBTQ group(s). What she noted explained why the "Q" (Queer for anyone who doesn't know?), was now back in vogue. I quote "In more progressive areas "queer" has been reclaimed as an identity".
I am proud of being tolerant on others as long as they do not attempt to force their ideology onto me. But I don't think I am "Progressive" as much as just plain tolerant?
See where a Doctor Kostenko from Daniels WV., got hit hard on selling Oxycodone illegally and apparently three of the patients died because of the prescriptions? He pleaded guilty to one charge and I hope he gets the full 20 years when sentenced.
I am pleased to see where more and more of the distributors are being held to account for when someone passes from an overdose. Go get 'em guys !!!! Put the fear of God into the low lives and make them pay and pay dearly.
The recent article by the County Commission (Mr. Couch), that "they had no choice but to raise the rates". Their talking about more stringent control of purchasing practices and the usual crap where the employees are using their City credit cards for illegal personal purchases. This should be a constant day by day process not just when as usual a Government Entity gets into fiscal trouble. And the B.S about lowering the Levy back next year; Oh boy.
With the way the State is pushing tourism in our area for the future, there will be little true "Opportunity" as noted in the "Our Opinion" column a few days back. The many good things happening in neighboring Kentucky in manufacturing/ production/ assembly plants/ businesses will have people flocking there for work.
We don't see the huge Toyota Assembly plants or the yesterday's noted Aluminum Plant going in here to the same degree as in Kentucky at the moment. We have I believe smaller versions of the Amazon/ Toyota facilities, but that does not feed the bulldog. With a place like Century Aluminum sitting idle for years, how come we could not get the new plant in Kentucky? I would suspect those 550 jobs down there would have been "finger lickin' good" to those folks?
I am not sure if the folks in Kentucky are better educated; have a harder work ethic or willing to work for pennies with few benefits as seems the sad, sad case here? We are not well educated; those folks from here ARE in other places bye an large unless in the family business? The old axiom on how hard the folks here work would be great if the sad truth is over the half the folks are not working or even looking for work. The drug problem for sure would scare the Hell out of a lot of companies; but is Kentucky that much better than here?
I am a bit confused on where all these opportunities here exist with a quoted 1/4 of the people retiring in the next five years? Those who are in that magical early 1980s to 2000s group HAVE taken a hard look at the ol' homestead and found the perpetually leaky roof called State Government, moldy walls called County Governance and the rotten floors called City Governance (at least here in beautiful Vienna), to be reasons to get the Hell out while young and able to move elsewhere to develop the dreams of their minds and with the sweat off their brows.
It appears more and more over the past two years that the new Republicrat Legislature while doing some good, are doing more harm to the very people who voted them in with false promises of good this and better that. The Democons have continued to pursue the Obamalite agenda with a new Governor that swears up and down that another $250 Million OR MORE in new taxes/ fees and other charges will drive us up the hill to prosperity. Now how we are at the $250 Million in new taxes versus the $500 Million shortfall correction to be a sum zero is not really clear yet to me yet? Not much cutting going on?
He is adamant we have to give the Teachers' that $800. raise, why? Kids are NOT learning so why reward those who are NOT teaching? Go around the damned Teachers Union(s) and find those Teachers who ARE doing the job. Give them Merit raises that they deserve. He expects to get an "acceptable" budget in the next week or so? How many of the Legislators will show up with at least one arm in a sling or a leg in a cast?
Was told the damnedest thing the other day. Someone said a close relative had not only seen a Coral Snake twice, but the first time it had struck at the persons boot. The individual was said to have stomped it to death. Next day, the person saw another one in about the same spot. Where you ask? On the sidewalk area by pond run between Sam's and Lowe's. Now I did not know they were known in this area so looked up their range. Map I reviewed showed them not any closer to us than the very Southern tip of North Carolina by the sea and than South. Not coming any farther North than the top of Louisiana and than across the bottom third of Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia.
There are some other snakes that resemble the Coral Snake:
1. The Scarlet Snake in Florida.
2.The Red Rat Snake in the following habitat: The red rat snake resides mainly in the southeastern portions of the United States. These snakes can be found as far north as New Jersey on down into Florida and have been seen as far west as the state of Texas. But rather than just erase it, I will leave as is. Call it a bit of "Truth in Advertising" and one should never proof their own writing). Updated 1:00 P.M., 04/29/2017).
3. Lastly the Scarlet King Snake and its habitat: The region where scarlet king snakes are known to reside consists of most of the states in the eastern portion of the United States, but especially in the southeastern states like Florida, Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and North Carolina. However, they can occasionally be found farther north towards the mid-Atlantic region.
I admit I am a bit skeptical, so I did a Bing search on "Coral Snake Habitat" and found all of the above with great color pictures and even more information than above. But with the issues on both Global Warming and the tendency for some idiots to dump their no longer wanted pets in the wild (anyone ever hear of the Boa Constrictors now running amok in Florida?), anything is possible. BE ALERT, BE SAFE. If one should see a snake that might meet the criteria call who, 911? 'nuff said'.
