Would like to believe that the U.S. or someone on our side brought down that Iranian Missile/ Satellite? We should be doing the same to N. Korea even if we have to openly shoot the things down. We are half stepping our way to a disaster that while will be the perfect excuse to do something, will be like Pearl Harbor, where it was alleged we knew it was coming and sat back. Yes, it is noted over and over that Mr. Roosevelt and his crew knew what Japan was doing and took advantage of it to unify the Nation to get even. But it is still not absolutely known if that was true? Yes, there were many signs that something was up, but too much credibility was given to a massive attack in Southwest Asia?
So it is it possible we will be taken by surprise again? Yes, we got snookered in a very deadly way on 11 September 2001. There is clear evidence that some FBI Agents were on too the attackers as they wandered unchallenged around the Country. We had as we are today losing track of who is coming here and who is leaving or not?
We are far and away too open a Country to maintain easily the security that we need to protect ourselves from those trying to come in and worse from those already here. No matter how stringent many processes are today, we still cannot plug all the holes. You can check my shoes at an Airport a 100 times and the one person with the bomb will still find a way aboard a plane.
While it is a sad business when any Country goes to war, the choice's are not always so cut and dry? It would be a shame if it turned out that N. Korea was "the Mouse that Roared" and toppled us because of our current pacifist bent? While the cost of bombing N. Korea and possibly even Iran would be horrendous, the cost of watching and waiting could be far, far worse? We are pursuing a sucker play that will not end well for us passively.
You might say that it is easy for me to be belligerent and even militant; I am too old to go to fight. I would go back into service in a second where ever the Military would put me. While not as sharp as I was 30 years ago, I know I am still one helluva Logistician and can make things happen. Love of Country and Service does not end with age, it ends only with death.
The "Our Opinion" column on the possibility of the multiple Republicrats running against Mr. Manchin and giving him the Election by default is a strong possibility? His current campaign of working with anyone on the Healthcare Issue is nice except if he is speaking truthfully, why did he not come forward on any of the last few votes to move the process forward? There is no doubt that the cure might well have been worse than the disease, but the disease for sure will kill many of us if left untreated? It has just come out (after the fact of course), that many who would lose Health Insurance probably under any of the efforts would be those who are choosing to not have Health Insurance. That has been up to now a missing number and the CBO has failed to do its job by not showing that part of the equation.
I am still not excited about Mr. Manchin because of the shenanigans of Mylan and Ms. Brescher (his daughter). He has been too protective and noncommittal on the seemingly more and more issues with that Company. Don't talk about saving lives and helping the needy while one's own daughter is up too her ham hocks in controversy on alleged price gouging and price manipulation which are swirling around her and the Company now?
Can not talk out of both sides of your mouth at the same time when it comes to the well being of the Public be it just West Virginia or even the World when it comes to prescriptions. So until I see Mr. Manchin coming clean on contributions/ effort to stop investigations or at least curtail them where his daughter is concerned, he can forget about me supporting him. He is a bit too slick by half.
The "O Boy, am I doing such great things" Op-ed by Mr. Warner was in some ways justified. The efforts to remove the dead and re-align the living in various voting districts is well and good. But as long as I can remember my conversation with him at Panera's during Primary Season in 2016 where he knew about how improper the WV., voting Laws are and until he moves to get Legislation introduced to clean them up, he has a big black mark on his record.
I understood fully his position at the time that it is the obligation of the Legislature to introduce new or changes to existing Law. But he did acknowledge my point that HE has the Bully Pulpit as it is said to bring needed attention and to get some Legislators to do what is needed? So, I am waiting and watching for him to pound the Pulpit for the changes? He is not obligated to support Mr. Justice in continuing processes that are only intended to maintain the incumbents against the needed new blood in our Elected Positions at whatever level. So okay, blow your horn a bit and pat Mr. Rhodes on the Heine for his efforts to date but act for later.
In some parts of Wood County for sure, we have problems in Election handling. For damn sure in Vienna. 'nuff said'.
