Said yesterday, that I was going to comment some more on the Pot Shop being so close to that
School. But having thought about it, and with Mr. Leach on the Planning Commission and in lock step with Mr. Rapp am of the opinion nothing will change. As I noted earlier, the sale of "Medicinal Marijuana" is going to be Legal.
I will say that I am very, very glad I have no Children or Grandchildren going to any of the Schools here. It may take a bit, but for sure something bad will happen to someone because of the proximity of the Pot to the kids. I know that no one is supposed to get anything from them without a valid prescription. But for those of you who have already forgotten, there were plenty of Doctors willing to write one for Opioids for a little something extra. So unless there is some way to verify the script, whatever is wanted will be sold and legally.
At that point, the buyer will probably in many cases toke up, snort a line, take some pills, inject whatever they have bought as soon as they leave the shop. And considering how potent some of these things are now said to be, how far will they drive, how long may they walk before they are at a School?
It would appear that this combination needs more thought and the City Council needs to be put on notice that there is a potential problem that needs addressing?
It is not my intent to try and protect the children again in Vienna as I post this today. I tried to warn you about that damn park down there and putting all those kids there to practice/ play Soccer and it seemed to fall on deaf ears. Maybe our "Cause du jour" group will start thinking on it and ask for permission to address Council?
Am going to ask a few questions about that Park now.
First is the boundary line between Harper's Property North of the drainage ditch or just South of it?
2. Is it still being used and if so by whom and from where?
3. What is actually in that ditch as far as residue materials? Or is that something we just look the other way about?
4. When was the last time it was dredged to allow easier drainage? But, the dirt is not supposed to be moved due to contamination, if any in that area? There seemed to be no testing in those areas?
5. Where does whatever in that Ditch actually come from? Remember just a few blocks East is that old Dry Cleaners/ Laundry that so badly contaminated its area that is said nothing could be built there? The contamination from there is said to be going East towards Jackson Middle School which is why there are monitoring wells along there? Water flow underground is the Truth of the matter as the Park is downhill from that Laundry just as is Jackson.
6, Is it possible that some of the whatever in the soil is also washing/ leaching down into that ditch? What brought these issue up to me was when I was parked and looking at the Park Saturday morning and noticed the flooding all the way to just below the Railroad Tracks.
Now we have to be realistic and note that the Ohio River is in itself, not very clean. So whatever was in that River has come onto the Park area, not just the contaminants from the Park going into the River and South. This is what is called a two edged sword. Both contaminate the other.
It was said that P'burg was only four feet above flood stage. That leaves one to wonder just how high that bank by the Park really is itself? We supposedly are going to get another 2- 3" of rain this coming week and one could believe all will flood again? How much is of course the question, but still an indicator that whatever is put there is not going to be very damageable if it is to last?
It would appear, that a LOT of thought has to be put into what is put down there. It does not flood that much it seems, but it won't take many to create a lot of problems and cost to repair.
I would hope that the above can and will give some or many of you food for thought. Can or will anything happen? Today, tomorrow, no, someday- probably.
And if it was not so sad, the way that the State of Florida is all over what a poor job the FBI did with handling the Cruz kid; yet at the same time, 20 reports to local Police against him and no action. Little tough to blame it all on the Feds. Lotta food on that table. 'nuff said'.
