Councilman Rockhold stated it quite well " Some of this stuff wouldn't have to be a FOIA if it were added to our website regularly". Instead as with the non-existent Budget & Finance Meeting minutes here in Vienna, all is hidden away so no one can easily see what they allege they are doing versus what is really happening? And that is their limited disclosure of what is going on. I am the ONLY non-functional person in the meetings. And I guess had best define my term non-functional? I am the ONLY non-Governmental person in the meeting EXCEPT when people show up with their hands out. I spend a considerable amount of money getting copies of B&F minutes; City Council Meetings and Heaven forbid try to get copies of Public Hearing Minutes/ Rosters. This City will hide most anything as it is usually not operating in the interest of the WHOLE City but only in that of small groups of special interest activities.
P'burg City Atty., noted that " when cities have imposed a "search fee", the WV Supreme Court in effect slapped their hands. He was not correct in that as it WAS the WVSC that allowed the punitive charges when they decided against the Neases', who were trying to get information from the City of Nitro. This decision in April 2014; with only one of five Justices against it.
It was a lone Delegate (actually the Speaker himself), that stood up for the little people in this State and got it reversed. So if one looks to the Judicial System in WV., for Justice and a logical interpretation of the law- forget it.
Thankfully there is an Election coming up- and I for one hope the people put the four that do not understand the Federal Freedom Of Information Law back (this by some is called Legislating from the Bench), into private practice. Much less damage to fewer people.
And I have to comment on our Elitist Journalist who had to just cry, wring her hands and carry on about the two who were murdered in Virginia. For sure it is a sad, sad day for the families, friends and co-workers of the two. How she got to "beloved co-workers" escapes me? Did she work at that Station in Virginia? Did she work at a newspaper there? Or was she looking for sympathy in her own right? Yes, I can certainly see where getting "swatted" would be a moment to remember.
But where is her outrage and indignation for the "beloved" police officers who have been butchered this year all over the Country for the ultimate crime of being Police Officers? Once again this paper or at least one of the mug wumps in charge showed how poorly it represents the MOV? Maybe she should stick to baking cookies instead of holding herself and the paper up to ridicule?
I admit a strong distrust (well founded as I believe will show in my second Monday posting), of our Vienna Police Department. But should one actually be out on patrol, especially at night and get murdered, I would have the same empathy for him as for any other in any location anywhere. And I fully note that most of the Officer's being assassinated are done so in daylight hours. Even with the behavior of the local police, I have had and will continue to believe in the value of an effective and diligent Police Force.
And still more on my comments on Ex-Senator Coburn. He hit the nail on the head when he noted that most of our Leaders (Elected), have little or no respect in the Laws of the Country and our Constitution. it has stood us in good stead for over 200 years but for some years now at all levels is to be twisted and ignored if not serving a particular agenda. And I note here I am paraphrasing in MY words what I see in his. 'nuff said.
