Since there is supposed to be such a dire need there now, may I suggest that the person who was to donate $60K for an extension on the Vienna Senior Center instead donate those dollars to Waverly? I would think that Public Safety might be a better concept than exercising that is still possible with the old unusable Senior Center Building? Just a thought folks?
Keep seeing Mr. Metz as the City spokesman now. Wish he would lose the sunglasses. People wearing sunglasses all the time are probably hiding something? I, myself do not wear them. It is the way one does things in allowing people to look into my eyes and know I am telling them the Truth.
The usual TV session Wednesday night was a little sad with the comment on trying to get retail business at the Johns Manville site. Means simply put the fast food places and small shops to help to separate people from their money. I again refer to the Sales Tax Mentality of the City. It is sad to me that the high paying jobs from the Alternate Fuel Company fell through even if they did go to P'burg.
I remember on 23 July 2014 at the Johns Manville Meeting to supposedly get the folks on board with the purchase of the site. I noted to Ms. Smith who was sitting next to me that River Road was going to be a big problem for access. She kindly told me that would be taken care of later. Well folks, later and the 60 high paying jobs have gone. The site was not properly reviewed for not just what would go on the site, but how to get in and out logistically. Access simply put was a nightmare.
As soon as she finished talking down to me, fool that I am, I just sat back and allowed the movers' and shaker's to continue their plans for whatever. And we should note to date the whole thing is a non event as far as potential occupants. The only think I have not heard about lately is the supposed Medical Office Complex at the East end of the site? Maybe that has also disappeared. Vision folks is a big part of the infamous six P's: "Prior Planning Prevents Pi** Poor Performance". Worked years ago and would for sure be a good idea for the City.
As an aside, I did NOT apply for the Senior Discount when it was revealed a year or so back. I was actually disgusted that it had been available to the folks for DECADES and pretty much hidden from sight. And even after that one brief comment, it disappeared again. City does not want to give back anything unless it gets more in return.
So in simple English, I will NOT be asking for the refund (6 years), OR will I sign up for whatever the new amount is after the reduction Thursday night. I am not looking to feather my nest at the expense of the other Taxpayers. I am surviving without it up too now and will continue to make do. There are many good folks out there that can better use those dollars.
It will also be noted here that IF and I repeat IF I can avoid the City Health Insurance plan, I will do so with that too. The problem that will have to be addressed when the time comes is called Co-ordination of Benefits and some of the Health Insurance Companies may require every eligible employee to take the plan. Then is a miserable process where all Insurance Companies decide who pays first, second and maybe even third? Again, I do not intend to feather my nest at the City Taxpayers expense. I have had my own policies for years and will continue to do as my neighbors in the City are doing if allowed too? That being to struggle with ever increasing costs; reduced benefits and poor access to Hospitals and Doctors.
I do NOT want to be Mayor to put my hand in your pockets folks beyond what I feel is due to me.
Example is the upcoming reduction in the Fire Fee on the 25th. While the fee will go down whatever amount for the City, the start of the County Fire Board Fee (Tax), will eat most if not all of that up. And as I have noted, it is seemingly more of an Election gimmick than anything else?
As for my Up To Date Listing of the items that I am putting out for my "Platform for Tomorrow". I will be updating each Wednesday as I did today.
People should understand that I expect some of the other Candidates for other Positions to try and grab my ideas. But I am hoping that even if they do grab my brass ring, that you folks remember WHO had the Vision to even start to try and do something for a segment of our fine City population?
Mr. Azinger has for example tried to grab my "reduce spending" that I have pushed for years. Mr. Conley jumped in to push for "Tax Reductions". I have been there day in and day out for years on these issues and will continue to do same.
As the rest of my Platform rolls out in the coming weeks, I will again suggest YOUR first thoughts and words should be "Why did the City NOT do this last year or four years ago or even ten years ago? The simple but sad answer the City did not care about ALL of you; only the select few of you.
I am saying again and yet again, it is my hope to be allowed to represent ALL of you. 'nuff said'.
Remember: "Change is in the Air".
