Even though I was critical about Mr. Shaeffer and his seeming inability to collect for the County/ State what was owed to the County and the State, the customer service was always great. Folks were johnny on the spot when I entered the Office and helped me quickly and efficiently. Plus were "friendly", not like I run into on 29th Street so often.
But when one is part and parcel in screwing the Community one works for into the dirt, any time one is caught, it will make one mad. So it is understandable if not acceptable.
But I will say, I have found that to be true at any of the County Offices with the staff personnel. And to extend it to the State would not be hard either. Some of the Department Heads at both levels get a bit cranky when caught doing things that go against the grain, but the employees are good for sure.
Mr. Scholl got trotted out at the Special City Council meeting on the 19th to "correct" a statement that was alleged to him. But as like the ravine at Johns Manville that never existed and there is no contamination on the western part of the new park; also never got said.
That being where there is if I may, "misinformation", that he had asked for a "training room" in Vienna. Now for myself, I wrote in my notes that under Capital Outlays was a request for a new training room. And it was also noted new LED lights and Tiles. It was "clarified" that it was ONLY the LED lights and the Tiles for the current training room. I will admit to wearing glasses to read and drive. I do not wear hearing aides. So as above on the Ravine that never existed and the non contamination in the new park, there was no mention of a new training room.
Was very surprised when I was starting to leave the Council Meeting Thursday night if the new PD guy didn't open the door for me. I was quite curious at how friendly he was to me and Mr. Uhl who was behind me. Both of us had numb legs from sitting in those hard chairs and were walking slow.
I joked with Mr. Uhl outside as he was behind me in the hallway if he had heard a "click"? He said what do you mean? I said a round being chambered? We laughed a whole lot on that.
Apparently one of the locals in the area went and took a picture of the rear of the new Gymnasium on Friday? Attached comment was not too flattering, so I am not only one who thinks it stinks in design.
They tried to explain how the $5.95 refund on the Water Bills is going on. Mr. Rapp noted he had gotten his already. Imagine that? Apparently, the over billing goes back into June because of when the VUB does its four times a month readings per area? Like I said before, I did pay July/ August, but the September bill did not show a City Fire Fee charge.
Just like the Garbage/ recycle folks seem to go up his driveway to get his containers versus putting on the edge of the street/ alley like the little people do? Caught that as an aside while monitoring the bottled water that went to the neighbor for the pumpkin patch. No special treatment there is it? I have an old gentleman in his late 80s who struggles to get his can out each week in the alley. Wonder why they don't do something for him too?
Pretty good news on the Italian company setting up shop in the Weirton area. As noted, only 41 jobs in the initial setup, but should be above average wages for the area? At least I for one hope so. The only concern I have is the noted and ongoing bribery issues that are so rampant in Italy. Hope this company leaves that cultural aspect at home.
And was pleased to see Mr. Sheppard is retiring as General Manager. My only hope is that the new guy or gal is more real News versus the pap and crap so prevalent for Vienna. 'nuff said'.
