It would seem that there is a move afoot to consider putting in our own filtration system. There is to be a meeting sometime in the next few days with Vienna's old buddie Burgess & Nipple to start firming up the cost on that. But it was announced so fast, I could not get the day, just the time. Will try Monday to find out as I would like to attend. As you all know, a person in Hell wants ice water too. Right now, me getting that meeting info and a person in Hell getting ice water; put your money on the ice water person. City does not want me in any meeting they can stop me from going too. But has been put out it will be about $6 Million dollars. If from the Water Budget, the City is for sure screwed; as there is no money there to do much of anything now. Increase was a foregone conclusion over a year ago, but keeps getting pushed aside until I suspect the Election in November is done and no come back on Water Board or City Council.
Remember the meeting a week of so back when this issue on the C8 first popped up? One of the few City folks that are willing to talk to me with Himself anywhere around, asked me Thursday if I had known about that Photo Op with Mr. Rapp talking to a few of his Water Board people at that News conference. I said "no", did not know about it. Apparently so quietly done that even some members of the City Council as usual did not get invited. As I said above, the secrecy to hide things from me is not a big surprise; but it is becoming a bit regular it seems for some of the Council also?
Watching the Repub. debate as I am posting this, and must say that Bush I is for sure looking his age. It would not be much of surprise if the old warrior went on his final campaign this year? He is a very good man in many ways and the only boo boo I could lay at his feet was not taking Saddam out in Desert Storm I. But, it was a Political deal that all would end when Kuwait was "liberated". So he kept his word and for a career Politician that would be like giving up the gold in his teeth. But he kept it!
Watched the debate in Texas this morning (remember I tape a lot of shows), and it was to me full of interesting comments and unfortunately the usual lack of control by the moderators. As much as I like some of the positions of Mr. Trump, his interrupting and over shouting some of the others is hardly conducive to letting them present some of their positions. Again, Mr. Carson and Mr. Kasich were not much more than interesting bookends. Really think Mr. Kasich is the mover and shaker if only he was allowed to move and shake.
Back to the C8 issue again for another moment or so. I have provided yesterday several places to go to look for what may interest (I hope) many of you. I would again like to extend my apologies to Mr. Dietzler and more so to Mr. Brooks for the behavior of Mr. Rapp and Mr. Azinger. It is par for the course that those not in agreement with the City Council are either not telling the Truth or don't know what they are talking about; so most of what goes on is business as usual.
There is and will be a lot of additional controversy on who is responsible for what before this issue is ever put to bed. The 1/2 life as it is called for C8 IF and I repeat IF the problem was fixed today is four years. That means it would take years for the C8 to clear our bodies and its toxic effects. This of course does not take into account the possibility of a person contacting some of the issues that the C8 is supposed to cause in us. Plus as I noted before, the transferring by the Mother to the Children. We can all understand that a 15 years accumulation in the Mother would in most likelihood mean that level of C8 going into the newborn?
There was and are questions on why one of the wells has such lower readings than the others when several of them are with a 100 yards of each other. It is speculated that the casing for the well goes down about 80 feet while many of the others may only be about 40 feet? Somehow it appears to be helping to keep the water in that well cleaner than the others. Mr. Metz said the Water Dept., would check on how deep those casings for each of the wells in that group actually are?
Is it possible that the ground "cleanses" itself if the water is deep enough or as it leaches through it from coming down as rain/ snow? Or is it that the C8 takes so long itself to leach down that it has not reached that depth due to the time it has been going down into the ground? Guess what I am asking is if that the C8 has not yet reached that depth for that well, compared to at what level the water is being extracted from some of the others? I admit I am not very smart, but think I have some reasonable questions? Stay tuned and watch Mr. Rapp and Company very closely. He loves to throw money at things as do all the Progressive Liberals believing that is the only solution.
See where Dow Chemical the new partner with DuPont has just agreed or at least offered to settle a Supreme Court case for price fixing for $875 million. This do to the death of Mr. Scalia a couple of weeks ago. Dow did not feel it could get the desired decision without the input and clout of Mr. Scalia.
I find the settlement interesting in that apparently both companies are fanny deep in massive class action Law suits? Dow for the record denies it was involved in any price fixing.
Cannot tell a lie, I was so surprised to see where the P'burg Police Officer retired after 41 years and then goes right back into the same job as a civilian come Monday morning. And I thought that type of revolving chair was reserved for Police Chiefs and head deputy sheriffs?
Only sad parts is that at 65, maybe he should let a young guy or gal who needs a job get one and he go and enjoy his golden years. Yes, his experience and knowledge are priceless but not irreplaceable. Then he said the Officers should be faithful to the Department and their jobs. How about the Law Sir? Is it a matter of semantics or about defending that "thin blue line"? The Law is supposed to come first folks; first, last and foremost.
For sure seems interesting that just days after Camden Clark says it is getting dinged by Medicare for patient care, it suddenly receives an award for its Cardiac Unit. Hell uva coincidence?
And I keep thinking about the P'burg High School and their food pantry/ clothing store. In one report, I thought I heard that some of the students were suffering from "malnourishment"? Seems that under child endangerment concepts that would qualify as a crime? I do not believe any of those kids are malnourished what with free breakfast and lunch programs. And if the kids are being that mistreated, why are they still in those homes? Someone is NOT being forthright I think? And the Teacher who I thing is "overseeing" the program is talking about a child wanting something. Too bad, a need- Hell yes; a want, come on folks. I want to be 35 years old again, but suspect it will not happen?
And then on the weather report, as is the habit of the show, they show a picture of something to try and increase people watching longer. Mr. Garland even sticks it in before the suspicious seven day forecast. In any case Mr. Greenfield took a cheap shot at a small place in Ohio called "Fly". Said was nothing but a "bump in the road" and if one blinked would go right by it. Bet it has a lot more value than that to those who have chosen to live there? Some could call our wonderful Vienna nothing but a wide spot in the road. Doesn't change our affection for home; at least not to me. 'nuff said.
