Interesting where Mylan is laying off 15%- 500 employees immediately per an AP article in the Daily Blat on the 21st. What is most telling is that the Company released a statement Friday that stated the company is "right sizing" is consistent with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), to continue operations; say what?
When questioned if the layoffs were connected to FDA inspections of the plant, the Mylan Spokeswoman, Ms. Waller said the goal was to reduce the site's size and complexity.
Is this yet another "gotcha" by the Feds for what has seemed ongoing problems with Mylan?
Will add this bit on the numerous issues with the testing or lack of testing in the lower Park Section. Too many times when the 2013- 2014 Site Survey is brought up, the kiss off seems to be that the Report does not have much standing due to Triad being fired and replaced by CMI. This due to Triad missing various deadlines/ processes in the Voluntary Remediation Program that the site is being finalized under.
I would think, that the work or ANY work that may have been late are not grounds to ignore what is in a Report? That sounds a bit like where I questioned a person making comments about Mr. Rebar from CMI that were innuendos and possibly even character qualifiers on conflicts of interest to be cautious in where she was going?
This would also hold true with Mr. Leach and Mr. Rapp somehow casting character assaults on Triad's quality of work irrespective of timing goals?
The issue once again was the LACK of testing in the what Mr. Rapp says was a nonexistent Ravine by not testing down to the 55' depth in the center portions. Downing the quality of work that Triad did up to a point and this lack of testing was sure one to be questioned still does not make a "throw the baby out with the bathwater" approach viable?
It would certainly seem that the drilling/ testing that took place was at best a hit and miss process as the testing/ drilling did not go down far enough in many places to really determine what was in an area. The comment that they did not go down over 22' or maybe 24' because they had hit the water table and did not want to contaminate the water is a bit iffy? The water was the Ohio River coming into the site and since we were not using the water, how could it be a problem if there was some contamination farther down?
And sadly, with all the contaminants in the Ohio River now, it would seem small likelihood of doing any further damage to it? IF and I repeat IF the asbestos being uncovered on the bank is truly what it is said to be, what will be done to clean that up?
It would seem that the very resistance to any further testing based on meeting the minimal requirements of DEP/ EPA is itself a condemnation of the true intents of the City on this? There should be little or no doubt that there is far more being hidden than shown by Mr. Rapp and Mr. Leach at this point?
Supposedly as noted before, when drilling, a casing is first put down to protect the drilling area from outside contamination or from what is being brought up? It does not seem to add up on what was going on with Triad and the City? Many of you know that Triad and Vienna were said to be joined at the hip for years on various projects? I think the question should be asked on what all was actually going on to get Triad fired?
The recent issues on Asbestos washing up on the bank or being exposed due to the flooding could support the numerous comments by people who worked at JM that waste/ debris was just pushed over the bank in barrels through the years?
So we are still in the same place; Mr. Rapp, Mr. Leach, Mr. Rebar and who knows who all else is in the mix do NOT want anymore drilling/ testing. Not doing this will forever leave a taint on this site as too its potential danger versus safety.
I will again stress we need to get away from the Dry Cleaner Plume(s) issue that is apparently not as bad as some tried to portray it. I can sure see why Mr. Rogers does not want that Plume to be an issue as he lives right where it is or may be going? Will be tough to sell that house with that kind of reputation dogging it?
So where is that Plume or Plumes that shut down 4 wells over the years and is now said to be closing on wells 7 & 8? What is its story and where are we in that story as far as our water safety concerning those wells? That would seem to be far more newsworthy and I am not talking about the local media, but more so in the Council discussions?
The VUB Budget will be coming up in May/ June and that is where some serious adjustments in spending need to be addressed. The problem is that the City Council has basically NO input or control on what happens with that Budget. Rubber Stamping has only the possible danger of a Council Member slapping him/ her self in the face if the budget is stamped too hard and too fast.
There will supposedly several important Ordinances coming up for a second vote on Thursday? I do not see much drama left in the issues unless someone challenges Mr. Rapp on his rewording of the Mr. Rogers Amendment on hire versus review of Department Heads?
There will of course in other corners be the usual sensationalizing of the meeting, but don't expect much in the way of fireworks.
And I hope you folks thought long and hard on what Facebook has, is and will continue to do if not brought to heel. 'nuff said'.
