I am going to begin with an advertisement that I received from a Company called Suddenlink.
It was for Value TV at only $29.99/ month for the first year. And Netflix for a year free or they would pay for it if you already had it. Now that is an interesting offer and my wife thought we should think about it? Well, I did, I read the damned fine print on the back. It was so small, I had to use a magnifying glass to get it large enough to understand.
We start out with the $29.99 base cost. But in the fine print comes the following goodies: Sports TV charge $5.15; Broadcast TV surcharge of $10.00. Than a cable box at monthly charge for each TV ($10.00?). And the usual suspects: Fees, equipment charges, surcharges and taxes will be added and are subject to change during and after the promotional period. And there is an installation charge ($99.00)? And of course an HDTV and HD set top box required for HD service. Now I am not sure if the above cable box is the same as the HDTV and HD set top box or not? Suspect the HD box is for sure $10.?
So lets drop off the $10., for the cable box and instead assign it to the HD box. So we have a super duper offer at $29.99 on the surface. Than the small print kicks in with $5.15, 10,00 and maybe another $10./ HD. So far up too, $55.15 month. But wait, if you do it now, we will add in an installation charge plus all entitled Fees, equipment charges, surcharges and taxes. That has to be a minimum of say $8.00 bucks and appears monthly. So now seems to be up to $63.00/ month? But you do get Netflix for a year or they will pay for it. That is per something I just saw in the Stock/ Economy section of the Daily Blat at $10.76/ month.
Personally, they could put Netflix where the Sun does not shine, so no deal for me. So, I am a bit suspicious of what a deal this is? Programing from last time with Suddenlink was a lot of channels in small rectangular with black border picture TV and about the same number in HD? A few different, but not anything to get crazy about.
It promises 200 channels, but look at their SL 200 line up and it seems about 50- 60 duplicated and a bunch of Music and On Demand? When I explained all of this to my wife, she was a bit ticked at the presentation.
Sadly, I had to pass on that offer. Anyone want my Advertisement? Oops, went into shredder.
Than saw a bit ago, an Ad for Internet for only $19.99/ month plus, plus for 12 months. These deals just keep getting better and better.
Now, I am going to talk a bit about the latest City Council meetings. Specifically where Mr. Bibbee commented that he did not know if there is a clear definition for a "Fixed Income"? Allow me this Mr. Bibbee:
Fixed Income financial definition of Fixed Income
https://financial-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Fixed+Income
"For example, a retired person lives on a fixed income as he/she only receives payments from his/her pension, Social Security, or something similar. A person on a fixed income may have little leeway if prices rise significantly".
May I emphasis the last sentence: "A person on a fixed income may have little leeway if prices rise significantly".
There are times Mr. Bibbee when you can portray stupidity as a virtue? And that helps you in that situation to appear to be a person with Morals, Ethics and Integrity?
His half fanny approach to continue to screw the Community along with Mr. Rapp, Ms. Smith and either Mr. Leach or Mr. Rogers when they need their fourth (4th), vote is ridiculous.
And the other two in attendance Thursday Night were equally full of the proverbial Bull Feces. One lie after another by these people on that Police Fee. I will tell you more on September 13th, at the next Council Meeting on them. More overall on meeting later.
The PD Fee discussion if not so pathetic would have been funny to watch some of the Vienna version of the Keystone Kops performing. 'nuff said'.
