I am working my way through another Legal issue wherein the Wood County Court and the West Virginia Supreme Court on the surface want no part of doing. The Law as most of you know is not for the common man to gain Justice. It is for those with power to insure they and only they can administer Justice. I have said before that I feel I never left the Philippines and by God and by Damn, that feeling is stronger now that ever. But once again the old man is putting on his armor: Integrity, Morals and Ethics and will go forth. I feel that once again, I am the so called "Tip of the Spear"; alone and on point.
So many good people in this City, County and State; yet almost none higher than a commoner. It seems that we are unable to find and elect people persons? And they are by and large smart enough to get special interest groups behind them, so many votes are wasted and get no results for those who deserve service the most.
The powers that be are forecasting another tough winter. I am not sure to laugh or cry. The last two were for me the worst I have ever encountered. And I have weathered some bad ones in the Puget Sound area and Korea. In Korea, near the DMZ, surprisingly little snow but oh so cold. In Puget Sound; sometimes a foot to 18 inches for weeks on end and also very cold.
Mr. Obama is off on another mission to aid the those in Poverty and Hunger around the World. I would take it as a personal favor if he could find some time/ money for those in West Virginia and especially Vienna. I know from going to other countries in Asia just how tough many of those folks have it. But I still believe that charity begins at home.
And the Union for the employees in the Casino in Nitro has authorized a strike over Health Insurance changes. Anyone giving the Employees the info on signing up for Obamacare or COBRA after the Casino brings in new non- union workers? Can't see this as a win-win? Unless the workers go down to Huntington to apply for the positions at the Call Center?
I have noted above that charity begins at home and Mr. Obama and his crew are doing something here in their way to "help":
Based on data from the CMS, there are 12 states that have average monthly APTCs of $300 or higher (it should be noted that APTC data was not available in Rhode Island when CMS published its data). Now CMS is the Center for Medicare and Medicaid. The APTC is the Advanced Premium Tax Credit. The highest were the following states:
- Alaska ($534 average APTC per month)
- Wyoming ($424)
- Connecticut ($359)
- Mississippi ($350)
- Maine ($341)
- Louisiana ($322)
- North Carolina ($315)
- Indiana ($315)
- Wisconsin ($312)
- West Virginia ($310)
And here is a little trick the Insurance Companies like to work on those signing up for the subsidies and various choices in the Obamacare plans:
Finally, to take full advantage of the subsidies, lower-income consumers (100% of the FPL to 250% of the FPL) (Federal Poverty Level), are encouraged (My italics), to buy silver-tier health plans. Consumers who fall in this income range receive cost-sharing reductions when they do actually receive medical care, as well as premium assistance via the APTC. In turn, the insurer gets the luxury of only covering 70% of eligible medical costs, with the consumer (and possibly federal government) stepping in for the other 30% up to their annual out-of-pocket limit. In short, it means the consumer could be on the line for substantial costs before the insurer steps in to cover 100% of all medical costs. 'nuff said.
