the Utility Board a few weeks back. At the City Council meeting Thursday night, Mr. Rapp did an update for the John Mansville Park site. I will say it was well presented and seems to show someone desperate to get it going. Apparently, he and his side kick got ahold of the DEP honcho at a meeting and are getting a partial usage permit for the part of the park area to the South of the parking areas.
He is going to put up the Flag Pole that is alleged to come from the U.S.S. West Virginia and that fabulous Gold Star Memorial. I am just nauseated at the thought of what should be such a huge show of respect for the families of our fallen turned into a tourist attraction As I said before, it is like walking through a Cemetery and over the Markers of the deceased. Dignity, Respect and a place of remembrance in a setting of solitude for peace and quiet; that is how I picture this type of Memorial. Am afraid of a wide open area where people come to gawk not in respect but as lookee lou tourists. Well, anything for a buck, even if made off the ultimate sacrifice that a family can and has made. City of Vienna's form of derision maybe for the families just like was done to the Vietnam Era Soldiers when they came home or just went out in public? I truly hope this does not go badly for these families whose loved one's names will be on this Memorial?
Having spoke with one of Mr. Williams grandson's some weeks back and even offering what I thought would be a much more respectful site for those entering the State to see the remembrance to the fallen; I was surprised to find out that it was a grandson working for this foundation along with Mr. Williams and his son. Than to find out another grandson lived here, guess the fix was in and the respect was out?
But remember I was very skeptical and suspicious of all the hand wringing and crocodile tears by Ms. Smith and Mr. Bibbee over spending that $250, 000 more on the 60th St. shed to house the misc. vehicles and store the salt/ashes for the Utility Board? Can not afford to spend any more at this time said the money watchers. Now this all came out after the Executive Session on a "real estate" issue. But now watch and see how much is spent in that park area for the Memorial and continuing to remove the debris/ asbestos material from the upper site at John Mansville starting in late October/ November. Mr. Rapp stated the $53K estimated cost to remove the debris from the plant site would be covered by the sale of scrap steel. let's wait on that one?
There was about $4,500 in donated funds to erect the Memorial a few weeks back; wonder now where the rest of the money came from? About another $35,000. Earlier Mr. Rapp said the money would come from private donations only? It is hard to believe that the good people in Vienna are so stupid as Mr. Rapp, Ms. Smith and Mr. Bibbee think we are? I think that Mr. Rogers knew what was going on too, when he argued to do the storage shed? But instead of stepping up like a true representative for the BEST interests of the City and most especially the families involved by telling the Truth, he did his dog and pony show.
One supposed good point from the meeting was the elimination of the Franchise Fee (Tax) on the CAS and SuddenLink bills. Mr.. Rapp noted it would cost the City about $65, 000/ year. Will get me about $.56/ month. Would be in place January 2016. Step right up folks and get your votes bought. City can do hundreds of thousands in Pay Raises; nothing for Property Tax Relief; but oh, here are a few crumbs. Remember your caring and Fiscally responsible City Council on Election Day. We sure won't forget you folks; at least not until after the Votes are counted.
I hope that nothing happens where we do have a flooding disaster in the 12th St. area this winter? It is so obvious that Tax Dollars and a desperate attempt by the City Council to begin to try and get re-elected are more important than the infrastructure of City Facilities to store and safeguard City Equipment and Materials. Incompetence? I think that could be misconstrued as a compliment for these three? Could we classify this as lies, lies and more lies? Read this; think about this and comment, comment, comment.
Went to the store the Thursday and one place had gas at $199.9 as it had been for some days. Did my shopping, walked out to my car and looked up; just froze in place. Another location had gas at $2.399. I was just dumbfounded. Another person noted that just down the road, gas was $2.10. Could not believe the huge jump in a matter of hours at best? Is the party over? Are we in for another rough stretch on fuel prices? Depending on how bad the glug of Oil/ Gas gets World wide will for sure impact prices; but which way? See below:
The Wall Street Journal.
Fracking Firms That Drove Oil Boom Struggle to Survive
A wave of bankruptcies and closures is sweeping across the oil patch, with dozens of hydraulic-fracturing companies at risk, industry experts say. Most of the companies that help oil-and-gas explorers drill and frack wells are small, privately owned and just a few years old. They are part of a flood of new entrants in the energy business—one that is drying up as oil prices languish below $50 a barrel. At least five frackers have filed for bankruptcy, stopped fracking, or shut their doors altogether, according to consulting firm IHS Energy. Other analysts say that number may be higher, and they expect many more companies to follow suit or consolidate in a merger frenzy. Energy analysts at Wells Fargo & Co. say as much as half of the available fracking capacity in the U.S. is sitting idle.
Traditionally, oil-field service companies that helped drill and complete wells were massive conglomerates—such as Schlumberger Ltd. and Halliburton Co.—with operations all over the world. They, too, are struggling with low oil prices and, along with their peers, have laid off 55,000 people around the globe so far during the current downturn. To cope, big service companies are also slashing their prices, in some cases so low that it is driving out smaller players, analysts and industry experts say. So far this year, the amount of fracking work has fallen about 40% from a year earlier, and the price of a frack job has fallen 35%, according to Spears & Associates, a consulting firm for oil-service companies.
A prudent person can see where this will probably impact on when the Cracker plant South of P'burg goes forward or not? And as for the massive input of growth expected in P'burg and here in Vienna; maybe some should hold on to their hats? Not likely this year for sure.
And we thought only the Republicans could be at each other's throats:

Hillary Screams at Obama: 'Call Off Your F-ing Dogs'. Hillary Clinton — believing leaks by President Barack Obama staff's triggered the federal probe of her private email account — ripped into the commander in chief, telling him, during a tense meeting, "What I want for you to do is call off your f–king dogs, Barack!"
The profane attack came during a tense meeting in the Oval Office that was called by Hillary, against the advice of her husband, former President Bill Clinton, according to bestselling author Ed Klein's new book, "Unlikeable: The Problem with Hillary."
During the private meeting, Clinton called the meeting because she felt she was "being persecuted for minor, meaningless violations," Klein writes.
But Hillary lost her temper and swore when Obama at first claimed he didn't know what she was talking about.
"He was almost being deliberately dense. It really angered her," a Clinton source told Klein.
After Clinton's tirade, Klein writes that Obama responded, "There is nothing I can do for you one way or another. Things have been set in motion, and I can't and won't interfere. Your problems are, frankly, of your own making. If you had been honest ." 'nuff said.
