$4.8 Trillion in Tax Cuts? These States Are the BigLosers (and Winners) in Trump’s Tax Plan.
Megan Elliott August 18, 2017 (Posted here 2:55 P.M., 18 August 2017)
Proposals to streamline tax brackets, eliminate the alternative minimum tax, and get rid of many itemized deductions would result in $4.8 trillion in total tax savings through 2027. In addition to disproportionately benefiting the rich — who would receive tax cuts equivalent to 6.9% of their income, compared to 1.4% for the middle 20% — the suggested tax reforms would also benefit some states more than others. The institute ranked all 50 states and the District of Columbia based on the share of the tax cuts they’d receive relative to their share of the total U.S. population. ...
Here is where West Virginia came out in the "BOTTOM" seven (7) States:
2. West Virginia
Share of tax cuts relative to share of population: 61%
Average tax cut: $1,380
The middle 20% of West Virginia taxpayers, who earn an average of $41,200 a year, would get an extra $500 a year in their pocket under Trump’s tax proposals. That’s 7.2% of all tax cuts in the state. Nearly three-quarters of all tax cuts in West Virginia would go to the top 20%.
The State to come in #1 for getting the least under the Tax Plan is "Mississippi".
Noting the "Our Opinion" column where it was questioning the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), may have ignored threats to water quality in approving permits for a pipeline builder?
The most telling part of the column had to do with apparent lack of enforcement by DEP in the enforcement of State Law? This goes to the core of what some of us have been questioning on how Mr. Rapp can continue to have development on the lower acres of the old Johns Manville site. Prime examples were of course the Goldstar Memorial and worse yet setting up Soccer Fields for the kids to use. Now he has made the statement that there is no "environmental" pollution/ contamination on the Western side of the lower site. Yet, there is chart after chart showing contamination there that is above the Residential limits.
Yet, the DEP seems to have little or no incentive to rein in these activities over the past two years? At the Reimage Community Meeting on the 23rd of July 2014 held at the Community Building by Jackson School, a man just raised the roof about the alleged dishonesty of DEP in accepting bribes for various reasons over the past years Now as is the habit of Mr. Rapp, he immediately turned it into an attack on the Lady from DEP which changed the direction of the conversation? In defense of that man, he at NO time ever made a comment about the DEP Representative.
Now yet again, the questions of someone, somewhere not doing their job rears its ugly head? It can again be asked how the lower acreage had so much done when complaints were made to DEP about what happened down there? Bribery or incompetence combined with the ever present "bubba" system that seems is far too prevalent in the State at all levels?

Manchin staying out of Trump administration
CNN Fri, Aug 18 1:44 PM PDT (Posted here 9:05 P.M. 19 August 2017)
(CNN) "Sen. Joe Manchin, a West Virginia Democrat, said Friday he will not join the Trump administration at a town hall in Lewisburg, West Virginia. According to a spokesperson from his office, Manchin told the crowd that would not be taking a Cabinet position, but instead will continue to work with the Trump White House in his capacity as a senator. Manchin, a moderate Democrat, representing a state that overwhelmingly voted for President Donald Trump in 2016, is up for re-election in 2018".
Can not tell a lie, had to chuckle at this one. Seems some of the CNN folks were practicing starring at the Sun for what would happen today? "nuff said".
