As for the Opioid Epidemic sweeping the State right down to Vienna itself, there will be as I have sadly noted many losses before we begin to turn the corner. And yet again, we will never win the War, just a lot of battles like the arrest of the alleged six dealers a few days back.
Her (Ms. Capito), concerns on the money to fight the Opioid issue is just the beginning of the campaign season when she is up for re-election, which I believe will be 2020? By than, we will have either found the floor in our fight or will be over run with disaster? I will hope we find the floor in our fight and can begin to step forward. But for her to say she will not vote for whatever if it is not something is a sign of stupidity and what is dividing us to the point of being unable to do much of anything.
I noted the comments on the K-9 Dog that got loose, chased a rabbit and apparently severely wounded or outright killed a deer down by the 12th St. refueling station. The last time I was down there, I noted the tanks inside the fence and the refueling pump outside. Now if there is another one, I did not see it or know where it is? But if the dog got loose and off its training, the problem could easily have been far worse than put out if outside that fence?
Mr. Pifer's assurance that the incident is rare is nice, but for anyone that had their dog or themselves caught up in brouhaha with a trained attack dog going rogue, it may not have been so rare for them? Yes, some serious retraining is in the mix to keep that animal productive.
And than everybody circling the wagons to defend against West Virginia being in a "Death Spiral" was to be expected if not necessarily honest with themselves?
The State is supposedly getting an unfair representation based on the noted decline of the Coal Industry; the Opioid Epidemic; the only 12% in the State over 25 with a Bachelor's Degree and finally the State Budget struggle? I did not know how low the Bachelor's Degree number was and really think it shows the problem not with those having degrees, but where the one's getting the degrees are going? To get the HELL out of here for a decent family wage job and a chance to succeed. Everything noted is TRUE. Am I the only one who reads, watches the news and talks to real people?
Of course the "Cheer Leaders" all came out and explained how the above issues are really not the issues as written. The problem is really the "Cheer Leaders". Everyone of the above items is true; the issue may be the degree of Truth today versus a year ago if that is where the Coal Data came from? We know that there has been an uptick in mining, but those with two brain cells still working also know the "good ol' days" are not coming back.
The Drug Epidemic is only going to get worse for a while with a turn sooner than later I hope, but it will get worse short term. Vienna under Mayberry West Rapp waited too long to get off the dime and some bad folks got an undeserved foothold here. But the great bust the other day will put some others on notice that our Police are here.
The State Budget is going to be a several year nightmare with lots of tax money wasted before the folks get pi**ed off and can a few Legislators and hopefully send Mr. Justice back to Greenbrier? But if and when the kids begin to learn to read, write and add with more success than many have now, we can turn the educational problems positive.
I have noted many times that West Virginia is just like a Philippine Province when it comes to the Corruption and Political thievery. But is most telling is that West Virginia's greatest export is its People. In the Philippines about 10% work anywhere to try and earn money to feed, clothe, shelter and educate the kids. Here they also leave, but I am not so sure about sending any money home to help the family still here. But the end result is a massive drain of people wanting to survive and live better for themselves. That is why there are only 12% of the folks here over 25 with a Bachelor's Degree. Not because no one is getting educated, but because no one is staying.
So all the dog and pony show be it by Ms. Parsons or the usual Political figures is just a lot of Bull S***. The problems are real to one degree or another, just the true number and cause may not be getting put out to the National Media who of course see so many here barefooted and married to a Sister/ Brother or First Cousin. That needs some work.
And the final talking head, one Ms. Piersol trying to say people in the know will not believe the stories is so damn sweet. To really believe people are not paying attention and making decisions is sad, truly sad. As I noted before, the longer I look at Vienna, I do wonder why anyone would want to move here or start a business? For sure need a lot of work. 'nuff said'.
